61 The_Moe Members 630 posts 2,852 battles Report post #7 Posted March 23, 2016 -->Sapain will be available to good CV players through personal offers . Man, this really rubs me the wrong way. Why am I required to perform up to some developer's standards before being given the privilege of handing them money? If Wg is going to make a premium ship, then do so and sell it. It's already like pulling teeth on the NA server, just trying to buy a Tirpitz, Warspite or Mikhail Kutuzov. Wow.

Let's keep in mind this this info is taken from the RU server. However, I too would be rather angry if Wargaming suddenly decided "Only these people can buy it" after spending all month hyping her up to everyone on the server. Saipan is the only reason I'm even considering grinding through the USN CV line in the first place (buy the ship, then work my way up and start playing it once I get to T6 or T7 on the normal line). I am terrible at CV's. But, I consider it a work in progress. I bounce between PVE and PVP to work at getting better at them. Since Saipan will only be available for a limited time, I was hoping to buy her and hold on to her until I got better. At least then I would get her while I could. But if I have to be "good" and prove myself in CV's now to get her, well it's unlikely I'll meet the standard.

Thats the thing for me, I consider myself to be an ok cv player. I actively contribute to the team and am not a wasted slot, apart from the Bogue and Langley which were my first 2 CVs I have 54+% WR in my CV's. I am also a little concerned because I don't play CV's much compared to my other classes and so I might not have the minimum number of games required to buy the Saipan if they go that route. Thats why I would like to know what a "good" player is so that I can try and meet the requirements, do I need to play my CVs more to get in the necessary number of games? Do I need to try and get better to have a high enough WR/damage done/planes shot down? Is there going to be a restriction where I need to have a higher tiered cv unlocked? 655 PelicanHazard Members 2,632 posts 10,276 battles Report post #17 Posted March 23, 2016 I think it would make sense to only sell it to people who have a tier 7 cv or more It would also jive with the monthly missions that gave discounts up to Tier 8 CVs. Get more players up there to qualify for Saipan.
442 EmperorMaxwell Alpha Tester 2,409 posts 8,275 battles Report post #18 Posted March 23, 2016 I think it would make sense to only sell it to people who have a tier 7 cv or more making it tier based is pointless since anybody can free XP to w/e tier they want. If WG is concerned about having another Kitkat fiasco, then making it a personal mission reward is better as only those that actually know how to CV will be able to complete the objectives and obtain it. EDIT: Making the missions actually difficult to complete would be good as well.

Suggest to the powers that be a new scenario/option. Allow anyone to buy the ship BUT keep her in dry dock, that is no way you can play her, until you meet their requirements. Should you change your mind in the future too bad, you stuck with her. Once you meet the agreed upon criteria, you are free to sail her.

The fact that it says the offer will be made to "good" cv players does give me hope since that doesn't sound like a company's decree.
6 Carnotzet Members 2 posts Report post #21 Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) Hello everyone, I'm the one doing the translations over on the EU forums. Since I've noticed that my last translation stirred up some controversy, I'd like to comment on it. Before that, please excuse me for the lack of accuracy and idiomacy in my translations. English isn't my primary language and I try as much as possible to make myself clear, even if I don't succeed every time. Going back to the matter at hand, remember that everything that's said on the RU forums is aimed at the players on the RU server (even if sometimes it spreads to other regions as well), especially regarding offers, sales, events and such. Now, regarding eligibility to purchase Saipan, my translation is slightly off. A more accurate translation would be "players who do well in carriers". That could mean anything, ranging from number of battles, to having certain stats above a specific percentage, or maybe even something else. We just don't know. In the post, they said they'll give more information on the requirements later. We will just have to wait. However, as I said before, this may well not concern you at all (according to your patch notes). By the way, if you have any question or need some translations clarified, feel free to pm me or leave a message around here. I'll try to respond to you as soon as I can. 1 KazaMka Members 10 posts Report post #22 Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) Concerning Saipan: Yes, You should not worry, developers have told about restrictions for players from Russian server. They did not mean all others servers, but it does not mean that they will not change desicion. By the way, Saipan will be available on Russian server a little bit later (April or May, not at March) so you will get opportunity to buy Saipan earlier than we. At least if they will keep promise about March. Edited March 23, 2016 by KazaMka

Data mined changes from 0.5.3.2 to 0.5.4.0 Kirov has less armor (around 10~30mm lower at places) The engine of Kirov and Schors are more vulnerable

I have a crap winrate with them but it's only because of that.. Perhaps its not "good" as in skilled, but good as in players who have played LOTS of CV games. For example Any and All CV players who are up to Tier 9 and 10 obviously have invested a lot of time in it, so should be rewarded with a Premium CV.
