Hello fellow Captains!

I must admit that I'm coming off of a sub-standard grind weekend in the books (40% win rate), which was frustrating to say the least.  So for the first time in some time, I actually took a day off completely from WoW.  I normally try to get a few games in every day so as to get the most out of my premium account, but for whatever reason, the past few days have been a true grind.

For the record, I'm currently grinding T6 Ognevoi, T6 Nurnburg, T7 Hatsuharu, and T8 Benson (the first two may have something to do with my frustration, as I'm all or nothing with those ships it seems).  Nevertheless, I just finished watching today's YouTube video from Notser (Credits) and it reminded me that at the end of the day this game should be about fun.  Sometimes we can get too ingrained with the frustration and politics of it all.  I feel I'm now at that point for the first time, as I do enjoy this game thoroughly.

But I think I'm going to take a step back and perhaps go back and enjoy some of my lower tier ships and premiums (you know, the old school favorites we keep in port just because they give us warm and fuzzies).  Maybe jump back into my Gremy, Murmansk, or Umikaze just for old times sake and take a break from the grind.

Does anybody else ever feel the same way and/or get to the same point?

Nothing personal but I hate the term "grind".  Makes the game sound like hard work or a job you hate.

I'll be honest say I know nothing of the Ognevoi but the Nurn is a delight to play. Personaly the Nurn is the boat I have the most fun in 750+ games on it, once you learn it it is simply one of the best IMHO for the tier range.

There are many boats that are nothing but a grind and yes it can be rather unenjoyable to play, certain boats will always be a grind you just can't get around that fact. What you do want to do is try and find something about it  to make worth the grind through it.

Ya know I really want to get a coffee grinder and grind whole fresh coffee beans.  I love good coffee but what comes out of the can is actually pretty stale and old by the time you buy it.  Fresh beans ground at home make a pot of coffee that is a whole nuther ball game.  My daughter does this and it's great.  Coffee is not supposed to taste bitter. Tks for your input.  OK...back to grinding ships.

Sure, I seal-club people in Kuma.

who the hell doesn't!!??

But seriously... I really like the game, no matter what bad thing WG does, I seem to believe it is still a great game... I adapt, improvise overcome and keep playing.. some ships SEEM like a grind.. I felt the Nurnberg was not a grind, (FYI if you think it is, you will, not, like, the next grind... I suggest LOVING the NURN, LOL)

But at the end of the day/night, yes, it is SUPPOSED to be about having fun... and I try to always do just that.. EVEN in a 3 or 4 loss streak...

I have far too many ships (50 and counting) but I play as many as I can a day and try to make some coin, earn some capt xp and have a great time.. Oh and win a lot too... but it doesnt  ALWAYS happen that way.,.. Try to get the team going, try to get ON a team if not.... maybe do a mission, Maybe take the Umi out for a clubbin.......(or the Orlan, or aforementioned Kuma)

But when it gets bad I walk away for a few hours, or the night if its late and try the next day....

I see my stats getting better and that does have a certain satisfaction factor to it all, but in the end, it is STILL about having fun.....

Keep at it.....

Not too long ago, I lost something like 17 of 18 battles over a couple of days.  None of which were bad games and many of which were in a platoon with better players than me.  When bad luck strikes like that, I just find something else to play for a week or so.  I used to try going back to old favourites when things were constantly going poorly in WoT, but that stopped helping after a while haha.

You will need funds to pay the Tier 9s and 10s.  So.  :)

For sure it makes sense. I keep most of my Tier 5-6 ships for that reason. (IMO, Tier 5-6 has the best ship balance)

I also have a SoCar that I take out once in awhile.

Game can't be all about grinding, because eventually you either get everything, or spin your wheels after Tier 7.

I will say this... A press is indeed good to have... especially during those power outages.....Oh not having coffee in the morning when that happens make me want to murder and rage!!!

But, I will say that if the coffee is bitter in a machine it will still be bitter in a press, as it is still the same coffee ground from that..... COUGH COUGH, can....

But I sill love my Kuerig.....and dark roast yummy coffee.....

I get you, if oyu feel like your working its not fun, the biggest challenge I have had has been equipment for playing and I just shelled out for a new PC, I wish I was just played out.

I found the Russian DDs early on too tough. I may try them again, although I can get the Trashkent now as I have been using free exp to work the line.

Hopefully you will find your path

The Ognevoi, and my 30% win rate in said ship, almost had me quit WoWs entirely.

I feel your pain.

Love the Nurnburg, Hatsu and Benson, however.  Nurnburg and Benson are keepers for me.

Frustration with the Nurnburg? I've had some of my best games and fun with this ship. As I always say keep her [edited]pointed towards the enemy, shake move shake move and you'll see what I mean.

Absolutely! I run a standard account so there is no sense of urgency or benefit to playing every day. I regularly help others grind their ships, letting me play all tiers. I even stream different games on Twitch (when I usually play Warships). Hell, Ill probably stream some Guns of Icarus tonight!

There's a reason I have so many games in ships like the Warspite, Atlanta, Clemson, Imperator Nikolai and Gremyashchy.

I recharge when I play these ships.  They're fun for me.  I can pretty much forget about the grind, the onus to do well or worry about stats or performance.  I go out, I pew pew (or torpeedus) some ships and enjoy the game. :)

Lol that's why I keep a jar of Folger's instant and a clean cookpot around, and always make sure the BBQ has propane. :D

I know the frustration with the Nurnburg for me is my semi-aggressive play style.  It's not that kind of ship that you can push hard with.  These are adaptation flaws on my end.  I had the same issues with the Konigsberg at first as well.  This is why I feel I need to just step back and learn to enjoy each ship again.  Maybe then I can hone in on the Nurn's (and Ognevoi's) peculiar strengths again.

I keep most of my ships...maybe I am strange..I work for em so keep them.  I love playing both the Konigsberg and the Nurenberg.  Both fantastic and fun ships to play.  I enjoy everything from tier 2 to tier 7  ( I have the Yorck now and working to unlock the Hipper)  the only ships I sold were the Chester, the Sampson, and the Myogi..I just didn't like that ship..I just never found myself playing them at all one I unlocked other ships.

Yeah I do.  I am in no rush for tier 10 ships and I like to mix up the gameplay.  Also I tend to take a few days off during the week to re-center my chi.
