Iirc in real life, torpedo nets became obsolete around WW1 or just before, as torpedoes gradually became powerful enough to go straight through them.

The only torpedo net I know of is on the Hoover Dam... (Real fact, there is one there.)

Yeah, there where afraid of German Subs....

The title says BEST WOT IDEA

Yes, I don't understand how that got messed up, but I'm sure its a mistake.

How would a German sub make it's way up a river?! Anyways torpedo nets were replaced by torpedo bulges. NO use for em

It is a good idea. However, it is not workable in this game for one big reason. They were only used on stationary ships. Some ships had anti-torpedo spaced armor (bulges that came out from the side of the ship so that the torpedo would impact and waste the explosive power of it's warhead on that armor and not the true hull of the ship. Some other ships developed double hulls to try to mimic this idea without having these large "torpedo blisters" on the side of the ship (with the loss of speed these caused).

This got me thinking about homing torpedoes, and I made a thread on it. Give it a look-see

Within which timeframe though? No reason for early ships not to be historically accurate with net usage.

EDIT: "They were only used on stationary ships" (above)... OK then, no use for them. Unless you want to park up against an island and deploy the nets, hulling down in that particular area.

They should have a long deploy time in that case, unlike the 3 second camo nets in WOT, so as to not give the ability to rapidly become invincible against torps.

Look up The Battle for the Gulf of St.Lawrence. German subs going up the St.Lawrence river and sinking ships. It's pretty easy to move a sub up a river. Just make sure it doesn't hit anything and make sure you're not spotted.

They could add it in like the spall liner in WOT helps against blast damage but I doubt anybody actually will use it. Its an idea but the real question is would it catch on?

Ships is WW2 had nets that could be deployed, they were metal. They stopped torpedoes, those metal nets protected them from torpedoes. Will and can this be added?

Does WOT refer to World of Oil Tankers?

Ships isn't WWII, it's 1907-Korean war.
