Switched back to cruiser - Konigsberg

Got tired of the German line of cruisers - glass jaws.  Switched to IJN DDs and did well till 5.2/5.3 patch.  After those patches - mid-tier DDs are now useless.  Not enough gun punch and torps that are easily avoided with the slowest moving ships.  Went from having at least 1 kill most of the time to be lucky to get one kill in 3 games.  Never been a great player but good god it is bad now.

 

So - went back to the cruisers and doing far better - almost got my second Kraken around my 3rd or 4th game with the Konigsberg.  Just have to remember to not get to far ahead of the pack....

I love the Koni. Try to keep her [edited]pointed toward the enemy and pick away at them with your two turrets.

Apparently the other couple folks in the thread are the ones on teams where the enemy aren't smart I get the rest.  Since torps are noticed farther out and they do a lot less damage - all anyone needs to do is turn 10 degrees to easily survive and keep at least half their hit points or turn 20 degrees and have every torp miss - even CVs from less than 5 km out..

If you always follow the "torp guide" then you are going to miss a lot of spreads.  It takes time playing them and getting intuition to try and predict turns so that you can launch your second spread in anticipation of hopefully catching them where they turned to avoid your first spread.  Luck will always be a factor.  Don't be doggin' on that one torpedo hit as well, you never know when RNG will smile on you when a torp hits by a magazine and detonates a full health BB.

I don't strictly follow the guide - I am apparently incredibly unlucky.... ;)  I usually start seeing how the guide is at aiming and going from there.  I even tried the wide spread and try and get some over lap.  If I hit a ship (after 5.3 esp) then it is usually on the ends as they are evading. 

 

I saw a Fuso get hit with 4 torps broadside last night I believe and it did not die.  It was hit on either end and in between - we had gotten hit by a cruiser first but not taken a huge amount of damage from the cruiser.  After the 4 torps - had just a little bit less than half health left.
