Wasn't it about 2 months last time from first announcement to release? Or just one. I would prefer one honestly.

The big question I have is how they are going to differentiate them from the other cruiser lines. So far, Kirov is the most intriguing to me with its 3x3 180mm main battery.

Yeah, German cruisers were shown in August and released in October

Russian cruisers seem to be slightly heavier armed with main batteries, the Moskva should have 220mm guns on 3 Triple turrets if she's confirmed to be the Project 66 cruiser.

And you've already mentioned the Kirov, who has 180mm guns compared to 150-ish of her rivals.

I imagine the Russian cruisers would be hard-hitting, slightly lower ROF cruisers.

Honestly though, a lot of these ships are goddamn paper projects....

Looks like they'll all be fast firing long range fire starters, I can't even find info on half of these so I'm guessing they'll be buffed from their 'historical' fits for 'balance' reasons.

So Tier 6, 7, 9 and 10 are paper ships.  Project 66 might be Tier 10, no idea what Tier 9 is, but likely Project 22. T6 and T7 is even more mysterious, I have no idea what they can be.

My guess is the Russian DD theme will carry over to the Russian CA/CLs:

Pros

  • Long range guns
  • High velocity flat shooting guns
  • Shoots HE and AP equally well
  • Fast in a straight line

Cons

  • Slow turret rotation
  • High detectability
  • Not as agile as other ships
  • Probably no torpedoes, but if they do have them, then they will be very short range

Anyone have idea what class the tier 10 is based on?

Only result I got was a 1980's missile cruiser bearing the same name that is still in service.

The tier X is Project 66, armed with nine 220 mm guns.

Project 66.

In terms of gun caliber, the tiers would go

T2- 120mm

T3 - 152mm

T4 - 130mm

T5 - 180mm

T6 - ?

T7 - ?

T8 - 152mm (this ship is similar to the Kutuzov)

T9 - 220mm likely

T10 - 220mm

The Kutuzov's RoF and turret traverse was deliberately raised to match the T8 Chapayev class.

I am expecting the T6 and T7 ships to be 152mms, as Wargaming never goes fake with the guns, which are always somehow historical.  There is no gap between the Kirov's 180mm to the Chapayev's 152mm, and the Kirov's 180mm is considered somewhat of a failure due to low RoF and high dispersion.  The 152mm on the other hand, is probably one of the sweetest 6" guns that ever existed.

I suspect that since that Russia wasnt part of any naval treaties, their boats might have better armor compared to other Naval powers in this game.

I kind of wonder how they plan to differentiate them from the German CAs, since Russian DD performance would suggest that the CAs could share many characteristics.

Not likely until you reach Tier 9.  Up to Tier 8 the ships can be considered light cruisers with a bit of Italian inspiration.

Except for Tier 9 and 10, the foundation of the Soviet cruisers are pretty much CLs.  The T9 and 10 are more like battlecruisers.

I am not sure if they plan on doing the German meta of low HE and high AP damage, the Kutuzov didn't even try anything close.

Ship on the right side might be the Tier 6 or 7.  It looks to me like the second or third subclass Kirov with 12 guns, probably the triple mount 152mms you see in the Kutuzov.

I am going on a limb and predict the Tier 6 and 7 are similar to the Kirov classes, the Tier 6 similar to the Maxim Gorky but will probably have 9 x 152mm guns in triple mounts, the Tier 7 more like the Kalinin or Kaganovich but with 12 x 152mm guns, also in triple mounts.  In fact, every ship from T5 to T10 will be in triple mounts.

With news like this I expect release of the cruiser line to be imminent, weeks perhaps or next month.

I wonder if their armor would be comparable or the same as German cruisers.

T8 Chapayev will have armor like the Kutuzov.  Which means fairly squishy, 100mm max on the belt.  Means slightly better than the German cruisers, not as good as the US or IJN ones.

The first set of Kirovs are bad, like 50mm.  The second and third subclass set of Kirovs have 70mm.

Everything up to Tier 8 are all CL standard in terms of protection.

The Tier 9 and 10 though might have as much as 155mm on the belt and 170mm on the deck.
