Detonations: Why do they exist?

Believe me, I understand that detonating the magazine of a ship could happen in the real war, and it actually did happen. But in this game, detonations do not make for good gameplay. They add no element of this game that is fun at all. Any time someone gets detonated, it usually results in one or all of  these three things:

1) Rage-quit for the rest of the day

2) Rage in the chat really hard

3) Player no longer feels as though he/she is having fun

Why would you implement something in the game that is no fun for anyone, and relies entirely on RNG to happen?

In my opinion, Detonations should be removed due to the fact that they are an entirely RNG-based mechanic, and ruin all fun a player was having in that game.

Thoughts?

That video has nothing to do with my post, please try to stay on topic in my thread please, I don't want it closed down by people going off-topic.

BB primary batteries want to have a "word"  with you and your "RNG is no fun" attitude.

That's the Mosquito if I'm not mistaken. Looking forward to the Royal Navy's Sea Mosquito torpedo bombers.

Detonations are like turret destruction and torpedo tube destruction.

In theory, yeah, they add some depth to the game, but in practice they turn out to be a bit of a luckshot.

Destroying stuff can also be used tactically..... (Yes the video quality is crap... my computer is meh)

Still doesn't apply to this thread. Those are planes strafing ships. This is a thread about detonations in the game and why they exist.

I'm not saying RNG is no fun. I play some BB myself, and understand that RNG is fun when it works for you, but detonations are the one part of RNG in this game that has zero reliance on skill. Other RNG-related things like incaps or citadels require some skill, as you have to aim for the right spot. Magazine can happen no matter where you get hit.

So you would see a squad of planes strafing a ship and it getting destroyed daily....

well wonder why we don't have that may documents on it....

They aren't like turret and torp destruction at all. Turret and torp destruction (as seen in the video Belgarath showed) can be influenced by skill. Detonations cannot.

Also, I feel like some people will tell me "use the detonation prevention flag", but the problem with those is I run out quickly, and flag bundles are never available on the NA store like they ALWAYS are on the EU and RU stores (bias much?)

3) Player no longer feels as though he/she is having fun

On the other hand, the guy who just detonated you is having a lot of fun so it balances out.

If he visits this forum and saw this, then he's having even more fun than that.

It can be used that way, yes. I'll admit to actually aiming for the turrets to try and incapacitate them at close range myself.

More often than not though, I see (Or have my own) guns or torp tubes blown off or incapacitated at 10K+, by random chance or a batch of DBs.

He's not arguing realistically why they exist, he's asking why they exist as a game mechanic...

"Believe me, I understand that detonating the magazine of a ship could happen in the real war, and it actually did happen. But in this game, detonations do not make for good gameplay. "

Personally I don't mind them, neither in closed beta when I was using the grand high-tier ladies who actually cost a pretty penny, nor the mid-tiers which I adore and use today who don't really cost that much to repair.

You clearly don't understand my point...

I'm talking about detonations by other ships. Hence why that video has nothing to do with my thread. Not only is it not gameplay footage, it isn't ships detonating other ships.

I'm not talking about realism. I acknowledged that detonations actually happened in the war. Please stop arguing your case when it has nothing to do with my topic.

Getting Ammo racked never got removed from WoT, detonation unlikely to be removed from WoWS

Ammo racks in WoT are far different. They, like turret and torp destructions in this game, still rely somewhat on skill, as you have to know where the ammo rack is to shoot it, then the RNG kicks in and decides if it will blow up or not.

In WOWS, detonations do not rely at all on skill, as I've been detonated by someone hitting the very back of my ship (and in the ship I was in, historically, no munitions were stored there).

I'm gonna say Mosquito there at the beginning.

Beaufighters were more ground attack oriented.

My point was- you are whining about a magazine detonation, which I personally very rarely see happen, and have only experienced it 2-3 Times in ships that are "prone"  to it myself when a noticeable portion of battleship games are seeing your shells land port and starboard of the enemy ships. Sure I still am dealing 60-120K damage in my battleships most of the time, but I can't help but feel frustrated some days by dispersion values- especially on the battleships that do not get the dispersion reducing module (ahem, nearly every USN BB)

OP's post reminds me of the kid playing kickball during recess who's always crying "That's not FAIR!!" every time he kicks out or gets thrown out.

Its so rare, why would you worry about it? You're just mad because it just happened to you so off to the forum you go to complain!

Jokes on you, there is a flag that gives you 100% chance of NOT 'splodin. and now you have at least 10 of them, if not many more since you seem to not know about them and have therefore not been running them. lol.
