Hi all

First thanks for all the info you skilled players put out. Ok my question I am just starting to nderstand the game a little more and looking for some guidance I have looked over Meserith guide and followed Atacheo hope I got that right if not sorry. But I have been playing the game with out really utilizing the captains skills, I did alittle for ranked but I was just guessing. But want to do better for my kongo what skills would be most beneficial.  I have 11points. and 13 on my Hipper/Tirpitz Captain. I am a crusier guy but am wanting to be a Attacking BB. I don't like hanging in back. Funny thing though I was just in a game in my Arkansas and got 4 kills 3 more than my team and was 3sec reload seconds away from #5 and 6 closely after when I got torped by both CV planes and I was told I was a [edited]player for attacking our Cap with 2 BB's in it. and the DD, Imperator and Omaha  working an AFK myogi. And said I lost the Game. wthanyhoo I was thinking if I had captain skills utilized it might have been different. And don't want to make the mistake using Kongo or Tirp. So I am looking for help. check my stats/profile too any tips would be great. Thanks in advance

okay, first things first. avoid using your tirpitz. its a tier 8 and youre not experience enough to make a positive difference to the team (at tier 8 battleships are highly important), so if you want to avoid getting cursed you should first grind your way up to your first tier 8 (in this case the amagi). by the time you get there you will get enough experience and game acknowledge to make a positive difference

Skills are situational. Skills that will be handy on a cruiser may not be on a BB. IJN skills may not favor use in German line. Example: Demolition Expert on IJN CA's is like sending napalm onto a ship doused in gasoline, whereas on a German CA you may tickle him a bit more but will do a bit better at fire starting against well angled ships.

Just checked your stats, looks like you flew up the lines. Go back and revisit Tier 4 - 6 a while to hone your skills. Learn where to be aggressive and where to be passive. Proactive and Reactive skills are 110% required at Tier 8+, even 7+. I am guessing you do a lot of PvE games, which is fine but it doesn't translate into random. You have less than 50 games in any ship in PvP matches. Mothball your Atago, Tirpitz and Hipper for a while. Don't sell them just set them aside.

Hey Batwing, Ive played with you before. LOL in my Hipper.  I agree I have found that the German guns not good for HE except Karl and Konig, and Japanese like the HE. I don't do to much PvE just when I was starting out and when I get a new ship so I am not a fool in randoms. I got rid of Omaha cause I would usally be first one killed quickly or just get ripped apart. Funny thing though self assessment is that lower I am better in BB's and Higher I am better in Crusiers. But I have. Ark,Kongo,Ishuzuchi (like it except for range) and warspite(love it but usally die fast because everyone and their mom flies in and drops like 80 torps). yeah ATG,Hipper and Tirp I have only use in Ranked. I think only a couple times in pvP.

Ezio- Yeah I have not used them but less than 5x each I think in randoms. Just don't know to go US or Japan.

Try out the IJN cruisers if you like cruiser play. I am at the Myoko right now since I am stopping at the Roon for a bit on the German side and have given up on the New Orleans (Not a bad ship but doesn't stand out aside from the AA). IJN cruiser + demolition expert... fire heaven. Had a game a few days ago I let a HE broadside loose on a Colorado at 15km... a bit over 5,000 damage and started 2 fires. They are floating citadels but after the German line you should be used to that.

Level 1: Basic Firing Training (improved secondary gun reload and better AAA) or Basics of Survivability (faster repairs, etc.)

Level 2: Expert Marksman (faster turret rotation)

Level 3: I prefer Superintendent to get extra healing (IMO, some that's very important for BBs), but Vigilance is also good to increase torpedo detection range.

Level 4: Advanced Firing Training (Better AAA and secondary gun range)

Level 5:  Sorta up in the air, but for my Hipper/Tirpitz captain, I picked the manual secondary gun skill because I like brawling in my Tirpitz.  Not really sure if it'll be that useful for the Hipper, etc. though.

Dont feel bad, I have mine and I am having trouble learning it. I pulled my Koni commander up to the Hipper to stay at 8 for a while. I am more of a mid tier person anyway, but I will eventually dust myself off and finish getting up there.
