I've been playing this game for a while and have enjoyed it.

I  understand that Green Icons over the ships mean that they are your team players and Red is your enemy.

But I have run across Pink icons a couple of times while playing . What does it mean?

I thought because they where included with our group that he or she was a friendly.

I say this because the other day, I entered a battle and  I noticed a ship next to me had that icon. No biggie I started up my Crusier  and started moving toward the enemy.

I see a lot of other players shoot at mountains or over other ships I assume to sight in their guns.

But this Pink ship was right next to me and cranked of 2 rounds into my ship damaging it. I then typed  What the F are you doing? he then shot in front of me again so I retaliated back and hit him with 2 rounds.

Has this happened before to anyone else?

A pink icon on a ship means they have done a certain amount of damage or kills to their own team.  Personally I ignore them in a match and if they target me I don't retaliate (don't want to go pink myself).

Don't shoot the pinks.  Unlike Tanks where it is open season on blue team killers, damaging pink team mates will help turn you pink. Just avoid them if you can.

Yes pink means they are teamkillers and take pride in killing their own teammates. They do nothing be ruin the game for others. If attacked by them just take screenshots or submit the replay and allow the Support Team to deal with them.

Players with a pink name are:

1. Teamkillers, or players that cross a threshold of damage against allied players consistently.

2. Individuals who consistently damage allies more so than enemies, usually (if it's above T4, roughly) on purpose.

Your name, or anyones, will change from Green to Pink whenever you cross a certain % of damage dealt to your team, based upon the average you do to enemies per-game. AKA, you're fine if you accidentally hit an ally every few games -- But if you purposefully hurt allies on a constant basis, your name turns pink -- And from that point forward, damage you do is reflected back at you. This is to either kill or deter players from damaging their teams chance of winning -- It was mainly inserted to prevent team-killers from Torpedo-bombing friendly battleships and continuing to kill others -- One of their torpedoes will probably kill them in a single shot from the reflect damage.

SO, if a enemy/allied player is pink -- This means they hurt their allies on a higher % than they do enemies. This is bad -- They're labeled as a Team-killer. The general rule every player with a brain should follow is this:

If the player is green, don't shoot them. You normally shouldn't shoot pink players, especially if you're nervous/unsure whether or not it will punish you. But in some cases, removing a pink player from your team may be a safe action -- If you are confident you can actually do so.

For example -- I could probably safely destroy any allied ship for their full health without being punished because I never attack allied ships. My threshold of damage to deal would have to be enormous -- This does NOT mean I should shoot anyone I want to on my team though. I have only ever killed an allied player once -- His name was pink, and he had harassed a friend in a battleship repeatedly with Carrier-based torpedo bombings until he died (twice, in two games). In this case, it was justified and the right action -- Especially considering he was about to bomb another allied New York.

So..If the name is Pink = Teamkiller

And if the name is Green = Friendly

Never shoot friendlies. Only shoot pinks when they put your team at risk and you are certain you can do so.

No, they're just shooting randomly because fire discipline is for idiots.

Also, while this may not be an issue at the very start of a match (except for accidentally hitting your own teammates), shooting your guns instantly increases your visibility to the enemy.

Waiting until a pink player does something bad to try and kill them, as opposed to shooting them outright is important, because that player may have turned pink from retaliating against a teamkiller in a previous match.

IOW, he may be a hothead, but not a TKer, and shooting him could hurt your team.

My usual policy is to ask Pinky if he's going to behave himself in this match.  The response, or lack thereof, usually informs as to their intentions.

Sometimes teammates are pink by accident though so just don't shoot them.  I'm my case I launched torpedoes a enemy and a destroyer from my team decided to drive right into them, didn't even turn away.
