Atlanta: AFT or Demo Expert?

This would also apply to my American ships past Tier 7 as well since they're using the same crew, but considering how much I enjoy the Atlanta it will probably apply more to it...

Would Advanced Fire Training (+10% range to guns under 139mm) be worth it over Demo Expert (+3% fire chance with main battery). Both these perks would apply to the Atlanta's main battery, with one of them boosting the range to 13.3km and the other increasing fire chance to 8%.

Part of me wants to lean towards the Demo Expert since it would also apply to the main guns on all US cruisers (on the Des Moines that would give it an impressive 17% fire chance), while AFT would only work on the AA and secondary guns for those ships. While that would be nice considering their use as AA ships, in the current meta-game I don't see that being as important as being able to lay down a volley of continuous fire.

On the other hand, considering I do play the Atlanta so much, having every extra inch of range is vital to me... but then again, anything past 12km takes too long to hit anything that is moving anyways. But on the other hand extra range IS extra range.

The other Tier 4 perks don't interest me; carriers are so far and few between that the AA buff doesn't strike me as particularly helpful, and the +2800 HP seems decent, but considering how frail the Atlanta is that difference between the first shot hitting you and you dying spectacularly is pretty short.

And for that matter, looking ahead, is the -50% loss of modules on preventative maintenance worth it? Considering I intend to get the Des Moines eventually, I know that both it and the Atlanta have very frail turrets. Would that, combined with the module that increases turret survivability, make things worth it? Or are the turrets so fragile that even with every boost to their durability they are a 1HKO anyways?

Don't hurt your team.  Leave it in port.

You want both but AFT first.

I tried AFT on mine and the travel time is so slow, I was hitting less than before. You have to lead a lot at that range. (ymmv)

Prior to the last patch I had AFT on mine, and that was my experience. Like it was only really helpful against BB's or anyone AFK. But then again, it's not like HE spam is doing much of anything against BB's without fire damage being factored in.

I would say AFT first.  Not just for the increase in the main battery range, but more importantly for the increase in your AA main gun range.  An Atlanta is primarily an AA cruiser and escort, along with being a guard against enemy DDs, and the farther out you can use your main anti-air guns, the better.  That it helps with long-range fire against slow-moving targets or to fire over islands is a nice bonus, but the combination of both is why I take this first.  Compared to only a 3% bonus to setting fires, I think you get more out of the AFT.
