So, I'm willing to endure hate, I've been prepared for that from playing arty in WoT, but I've heard that AA was buffed a lot, so should I start playing CVs? And If I still can without creating a ocean of salt, should I go IJN or USN lines?

Can't hurt to try them, but right now, and would have said this before the patch, go IJN.  The Langley isn't bad, but the Bogue is horrible.  The Japanese CVs are much superior.  American CVs were superior at T10 than Japanese, but not sure now....

IJN cv have been buffed due to the USN nerf. So, IJN. I'll probably switch too.

Well the first game I played in the Cleveland I shot down 20 planes with no effort. But you have to stay with the A Guns for the turret speed.:izmena:

I play mostly low-tier CVs (my highest is Lexington).

I haven't noticed any problems at the lower tiers, so it won't hurt to start them- and I had a heck of a lot of fun playing today (post-patch).

Like I said- it can't hurt to try, but you need to master the manual torpedo drop a quickly as possible to be truly effective.

I say go for it CVs are still fine for the most part. Lexington stock blows now, Essex and Midway got a nerf but we'll see how they actually perform. The CVs you'll be starting out on are still fine. Langley got buffed from 1/1/0 (1 Fighter / 1 Torp Bomber / 0 Dive Bombers to 1/1/1. AA is different now but not really OP. It used to be that long range AA was kinda meh, but when you walked into the mid/short range AA you started taking massive damage. Now it's more even all the way through. Long range AA does more damage, mid/short range AA does less. So as long as you aren't trying to smash your planes into a well supported fleet you're fine.

I've played a few games in my Indy with the new patch and it plays exactly the same as before pretty much. You just can't sit there circling around trying to get the perfect angle when you're in the AA fire, you gotta just make your attack run and get out.

As far as USN vs IJN, USN is fine at least until T7. Learn to use the balanced loadouts for them and you can do pretty well. Get good with fighter strafe and you can easily outplay Air Superiority (AS) specced USN carriers and actually still be able to do damage to enemy ships unlike them. You'll also be able to eat pure strike USN carriers since they have no fighters to defend with so you can clear the sky and rack up your own damage. IJN is pretty fun but I'd recommend starting with the USN CVs first. You'll run into a lot of AS specced USN carriers and you need to learn how to outplay them since IJN fighters are worse, and for the Hosho and Zuiho you have fewer of them.

Langley just got buffed a lot, but that's all my experience on USN CVs. Haven't noticed any difference on my Shokaku except for the over-priced camo.

There is no reason to play any CV but if you insist on playing one then go the Japanese CV. US CV suck and that pretty much sums it up

Go for it. Some tiers are painful, like bogue, someone pointed out. But there is always a tactic to get around any "nerf".

carriers will be buffed again, and nerfed again. it really doesnt matter when you start them, only  how good you learn how to use them.
