This patch did justice to Aircraft carriers and here's why

1. The Midway Hakuryu discrepancy has finally been cut.

2. Due to matchmaking changes, each team has the same amount of protection against airborne threats by even out distribution of ship classes.

3. Midway has strong dive bombers, Hakuryu has strong torpedo bombers.

4. Shimakazes still cant do sod all to planes (which is a blaring weakness of the ship), but gearing/khab can actually deter them now.

5. USN AA speced ships can finally feel like they have a purpose, as they have very strong AA now, while japanese ships who aren't focused on AA will still be punished by air attacks.

6. The game gives you an option to be a hard counter to air attacks with the tier 4 skill (granted you have access to many high caliber AA guns).

7. The UI has been significantly improved and it feels much less difficult to adjust drops, but due to the drag and change mechanic, you may still find it difficult to adjust a manual drop on top of another one.

Last I knew this patch would destroy the Midway, leaving it unplayable.

Maybe it's just the tears of Midway captains.

I stopped at the Ranger.  Maybe because I'm a rabid NY Rangers fan or maybe I'm pretty good at 1st grade level math.

Must be nice having all those Torps to play with while we get crap. I just sold my Essex and will probably delete this damn game. IJN CV's better enjoy their fun, because like all the idiot players in this game, they will start [edited]about your CV's and they to will be nerfed into the ground.

I got into this game due to my infatuation with carriers.  I was super excited when I got the Langley the first weekend the game was released. I was equally excited when I got the Midway.  The only thing that keeps me from bailing is I have really started to enjoy grinding German cruisers.

Justice hahaha I don't think having US CVs being absolute garbage for most part until T9/10 was balanced. Now it looks like why bother with US CV's remotely in first place.

Unless DB's can equal TB damage potential they are always going to be terrible but if WG buffs them to near TB level it will be OP because there no skill to bombing ships currently.

WG is just ruining US CV's even more and honestly they deserve the hate this stuff should of been figured out in CBT or early OB.

Typical WG bias.

Did you know that picking a USN BB is even worse in terms of your stats than USN CVs?

3. Strong dive bombers?

Since when did dive bombers become equal to torpedo bombers?

When you can drop on a Yamato for 45k and the bombs now go through armored decks.  They might as well be "AP bombs" now.  [Japanese ones still bounce].

Anti-BB alpha damage is relatively stable and comparable to the Haku's strike.  Anti-cruiser damage is limited due to small surface size.  DDs you can now accidentally luck out and sink a shimakaze from 100% cause why not.  CV vs CV I haven't tested because I think both sides delete each other still and I always struck first.

USN CVs are now the kings of RNG.  That said, RNG hates me, so I'll stick to the IJN.

It's not that 1 TB = 1 DB, it doesn't.  But you just buffed the other 2 DB squadrons to the point where 3 buffed DBs comes pretty close to a TB and 2 unbuffed DBs.

Yeah you can drop 45k on a yamato, when RNG wills it. Exactly why I said "strong DBs?"

Against the Yamato, damage is relatively stable... within a 20% damage spread.  You're essentially going to always hit for 35-45k unless you miss.

So they toned the RNG down? Huh, but surprised. Only at the Indy right now, but did that trickle down to tier 6? Probably not.

I think it's because it pierces armored decks which normally bounce ... so all those armored superstructure hits that normally bounce DB strikes now turn into solid damage.

The Yamato is probably the only ship to guarantee that ~90% of the bombs will fall on the structure which is why it gets hit relatively the hardest by the Midway.  RNG is mitigated by the sheer size of the ship in comparison with the drop circle and the relative lack of "duds" now.

AFAIK everything Lexington+ gets the new 1000-bombs.  Which is hilarious because that means the lexington strike loadout is absolutely bonkers now since it'll [theoretically] do 45k to a Yamato with disabled AA.

"Disabled AA" - that is the point. If the whole team disables AA than Midway will be comparable to Hak. All other your speech is pure theory, because there are a lot of other ships in the area as well as enemy fighters which will effectively decimate slow USN bombers before they can drop anything which renders dmg to Yamato with AA on to about 10k.

WG thinks skill is OP.....so they now dumb down the Midway (and for some reason the Essex too even though it was performing about the same as the Taiho) and reduce the skill required and make it much more rng based.

Only thing that changed with AA is that now carriers need to actually be wary of high AA ships. But there is a way around it that ive already experienced from the receiving end. CV basicly just hovered his stuff just on the edge of my AA range, and i had to keep watching them because your AA doesn't work at all with the manual skill unless you ctrl click. i think i got 2 salvos off in 4 minutes dancing with planes. then he finally found his opening when a DD popped up close by and i had to take my eyes off the planes for a bit. All it takes is patience. I know that's hard for CV mains that are used to just flying over AA cruisers with impunity to attack capital ships, but get used to it, and you will do fine.
