Can someone test the new manual secondaries?

As the title says, I would like test results of preferably high tier battleships on the actual effectiveness of sobering up gunners for a whopping 5 point skill (like hit %).

Nagato, Izumo, and Yamato....

Mainly looking at the Yamato & its 10.1km secondaries (Izumo works too).

Preferably on moving targets too haha.

Its been tested pretty hard on the PT server. It works pretty good if you meet a certain set of requirements...

 

1. Have targets within your secondary range.

2. Are attentive enough to ctrl+click the target (its all manual with the skill)

3. RNGesus reaches down and blesses your guns (better RNG is still RNG)

4. Most importantly, (and this is the killer for me) have any secondary guns left with all the HE that gets thrown around from every ship. 

 

Its a waste of five skill points to me because the second two are very rare for me and if I'm to the point where I have to do anything manually to a ship that close, Id do better with my main guns.

Was looking forward to the accuracy increase for my Warspite (didn't bother with PT) and saw that it was only 15% dispersion decrease up to Tier 6... guess I am not going to waste the 5 points on it

That's a shame to hear, would've loved to have non-drunk secondaries for once. I'll wait to see what others might think before I make a final decision later today between this & jack of all trades.

I played with it on the PT.  I found the secondaries were nice, but a few caveats:

 

1 - high-caliber fire AP, so they're rather useless against other BB.  Somewhat useful for CA/DD.

 

2 - By the time you get close enough, any cruiser you're fighting is dead.  That leaves BB or DD.  

 

Honestly I'm not sure if I will spec for secondaries.  It seemed nice the few times I played with it, but it didn't feel like enough to really impact the brawl.  It's good against destroyers that are spotted nearby, but how often does that happen?  Maybe at tier 7, it will against most destroyers.  At tiers 9 and 10, it's all just torp spam anyways.  So that leaves cruisers.  Main guns kill cruisers pretty easily...
