nvlddmkm.sys & BSOD's while playing world of warships only

Hello sailors, wish you all a much belated HAPPY NEW YEAR hope you all are doing good, me not much. Unfortunately, this nvlddmkm.sys error keeps causing bsod's after I am few minutes into a match. Does not happen with other games like war thunder, fallout 4, each played on near-highest or highest settings etc.

Could any of you shed some light on the situation ? Also, I am unable to record any wows games for my YOU TUBE channel due to this problem.

I ran memtest today. No errors. I have a ASUS STRIX GTX 960 2GB-OC graphics card. Currently from the nvidia control panel, I have checked the debug mode to ensure it runs in its base-frequency(i.e not in the factory OC-ed mode)

NOTE: NVIDIA Forums were of not much help either, other than the fact that this happens to be a dreaded, old & affecting-multiple-high-end card users error.

Thanks in Advance.

that is an nVIDIA driver error.

uninstall the nVIDIA drivers completely-  software and all, reboot the pc, and redownload the latest driver version

All that has been done. I rolled-back till 347.88. No luck. Trust me, it feels like hell with this game installed but not being able to play.

honestly- there is not going to be much that WG support can do then. this issue affects multiple games and the only documented reports I have seen of it being resolved is said method

What OS are you running? Also, if you know, what motherboard?

EDIT: Have you uninstalled the GPU? Not just the driver, but the actual graphics card? You can do so without cracking the case through the device manager. I have found sometimes with NVidia, it's best to start from scratch. IE uninstall my GPU and even the GeForce Experience all together. This is coming from someone with multiple computers, one has a GTX 960 and this one I'm typing on has a GTX 980 Ti (yes, I've had to do it to this one as well).

You run the latest version of the driver?

Instead of upgrading a driver the better way is to uninstall it, restart and install the new one.

You may also try to run driver sweeper to make sure every last bit of the old driver is gone before you install the new one.

Maybe check your windows updates if there is a new version of directx out.

After uninstalling the nvidia drivers, make sure the files are off of the hard drive, also use ccleaner to remove temp files and leftover reg entries.

fresh clean install nvidia,

then load nvidia prog and goto the manage games part of it and set the settings for that specific game down some.

verify directx,

The above is just generic.

After having reinstalled the latest driver, or reverting to a previous - stable - driver, and having had no luck, as you say, I would start reducing the graphics quality in the Settings screen, one by one, and see if that makes a difference. I would also look at GPU temperature. Who knows?

Yes I did this after reading about it in tom's hardware. I also tried the safe mode boot option & used DDU from guru3d.com to uninstall,re-install. You know what bothers me most is that it only occurs in 2games till now(wows & American truck simulator)

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Motherboard is Gigabyte P75-D3, as much as I can recall, its is a B75/H75 chipset motherboard, I maybe wrong though. Intel i5-3570k @ base frequency. 8GB DDR3 RAM, 3×SATA HDD's. No optical drives.

GPU temp remains at constant 55-62 deg C.

Wrong, even that method doesn't solve the errors, especially with high-end cards like these.

I've been having the same problem.  It only ever happens in WoWs.

Most of the time it's just a crash of the game, especially just before the battle results are supposed to show.  I notice it happens more frequently with teamspeak running and work-related stuff processing in the background, but I need to multitask so I have no choice.

On Saturdays when my wife is at work and I can just play without the other programs running it's more stable.

My system is Win 7 ult 64 bit with these specs.

This may sound odd and even out right infuriating, but like I said, in fact I run a GTX 980 ti (which cost upwards of $700 out of the box), my i7 6700k was $360 by itself and my mobo was about that as well iirc. However, playing Dragon Age Inquisition I was locking up with a GPU error, not the same but a similar one. Upon research it was due to a factory Over Clocking issue. So for that game alone I had to simply dial back the Mhz by 50, which is virtually nothing in order for the cut scenes to not crash the game and trigger the error.

However, I am still digging into the issue for you and with the info you provided, I might be able to get a better grasp on things. I have to run my daughter to school, but when I get back, I'll look into it some more.

OK, I did some more digging and found some others that have your issue as well, but in other games, just as I did though my problem was called a "Driver_Hung" error.

What you'll probably need to do and it sounds like a pain, but is a clean install of the driver. I know you did a roll back, update, etc. but that doesn't always work. However, there is a catch here, especially with Windows 7/8 users as I have read, it appears as though since Windows 7/8 (as well as 10 though it seems 10 doesn't conflict as much - yet) already comes with stock Nvidia "type" drivers, that they don't always overwrite, let alone patch correctly. Updating, rolling back, swapping etc. etc, only compounds this or has no affect.

So, that would be my recommendation is for a clean install of the driver. But, with Nvidia, if you have the GeForce Experience, you will need to remove it as well as all of the other programs associated with it, prior to reinstalling the new driver. Otherwise, all your work will be wasted. Uninstall GeForce Experience first, if you have it, then uninstall the driver, perform a driver sweep if you feel you need to. Heck, to be safe, go to the device manager and click remove device - then reboot the system.

Let Windows take over for a few, then start over. It truly isn't the game, it's an Nvidia thing. I've owned enough Nvidia cards to know better (5 or 6 to date) and while they are great cards, heck one even took a half a 24oz tumble of rum and coke and lived for another year and a half, they can be quirky.

Hope its fixed. I got the same thing. Nothing worked, even tried a fresh windows install. Now I heard it might had to do with maxing out my pc's powersupply. I've brought down the gamespecs a little and underclocked my GPU (using MSI's Afterburner), which seems to work. So thank u BURN_Miner
