So many torpedos

Does it seem like the game has turned slightly into more of who can dodge the most torps?

I played about 50 or 60 matches over the weekend and id never seen so many torps in the water. from planes from cruisers from destroyers, seems like more players just spam out torps all over the place than fire there guns lol. Yes i play Battleships and yea i know im a torp magnet. i think part of the issue is with all these missions and challenges there is less concern about protecting you're allies and more concern over how many fires, planes and ships of a certain class ppl can seek out and kill rather than the objectives of the match. For example when the dd hunting mission you think that would be a good thing but all that happened that i noticed were all the cruisers just dashed off  trying to find a dd instead of protecting the BB's and CV from them or providing sort of AA support.

Believe me, as a CV driver this is my bane right now.

That said, just have to always be touching throttle and rudder as a BB captain, after a while it becomes second nature. Remember that our BB shells can nuke down a cruiser from full to zero in one salvo, kill em back  : D

Oh i know lol they just seem to be coming from all angles now and way more often i spend half a match now just dodging torps you really have to be on that rudder and ready

For me it's been kind of hit and miss. There have been some DD heavy matches that definitely reminded me of Kitakami.

I think it's a combination of the missions, as well as there's a bunch of returning players (server population's spiking a lot more recently). Keeps things... interesting XD

You can definately do things to minimize getting torped, but there are also a lot of things that a BB player can't control as well.

You can't  control a CV player and make him use his fighters to spot ahead of the fleet.  You can't make your gunboats form a proper spotting picket ahead of where you are going, you can't stop your teamates from giving up their broadsides and getting nuked, leaving you alone on one side of the map.

Yet a team that is successful at doing all or at least some of those things highly reduces the risk from  torpedos.

As a BB driver simply being aware of these situations your team puts you in can reduce your chance of being hit by up to 50%.

DD best skill is shooting their guns    More torpedoes incoming.

Yet my Hatsu still only has a 9% Hit Rate on her torps, and a 0.42 K/D ratio. I think torps need to be spotted LESS.

lately there has been too many CVs.  dodging 2 or 3 spread drop is pita.   at least  DD spread comes from one direction.

so many torps hm, for some ships being their main attack method, and it already takes a long time to reload.

compare it to amount of shells in the air, and also ships that use mainly shells get more damage than ships that mainly use torps.

I think torps reload too quickly on the Sampson (this is the only DD I have used), especially when I'm zign' and zaggn' at 30 kts. after emptying a full spread - I couldn't image being the poor SOBs on the deck of that thing trying to load torps with a chainfall hoist into their launcher... decks awash, taking fire.

I found two carriers a few days ago, a Ryujo and an Independence. They launched everything at me. Torpedoes left, right, front, back and bombs from above. No damage taken. Then again, I was in a Mutsuki.

I agree, some games all I do is dodge torpedoes the whole game.

All the while --
I can't see the enemy

If I see the enemy ...it is like trying to hit a house fly with a bullet from a gun. While it buzzes around your head.

If I do hit it ---- it has better resistance to gun shells than my BB armour ---- due to OP'n.

I swear even using HE ---- I have to hit the flies with 3 to 4 salvos before death occurs.

On most occasions when I see these flies ---- they spit out this one way mirror ---- fog of invisibility --- they can see out!----but I can't see in?

As a BB player ----- With all I said above...I just deal with it the best I can. Till I get to the bloody 15 torpedo spread with 20km range...that's when it turns boring as.

But only if you can HIT them...  Lol, I've had a terrible run of bad rng luck lately.  Been murdering fish left and right, and splashing water all over the place.  Getting more than a glancing blow in on that CL/CA/BB/DD??  Pipe dream.

As a primarily cruiser driver, the extreme torp madness is very irritating to us, too.  I use mine very judiciously, and ONLY if there are no green icons over there.   The 5 million DD's per match is a real bummer, too.

Hydroacoustic consumable needs to be buffed to spot torps from like 8km away and DDs from 12km away. And set it so the DD captain's "detected!" skill will not be triggered by that consumable.

It's a vicious situation all around: DDs complain their torp hit ratio is bad (easily avoided if spotted well ahead of time), cruisers complain about difficulty hunting down the sneaky jerks while dodging torps, BBs complain about being unable to advance and DDs being tricky to hit, and CVs complain about everyone else not providing AA support.

Too bad DDs aren't brave enough to attempt to ram a cruiser :P

Back in the old days, when you said lots of torpedoes, you meant it.

That being said, of course torpedoes are being used more. They're actually competitive weapons again.
