I love the fire speed of the Atlanta, and other US 5 inch guns. One thing I would love to see though is a bit of an increase in range on BB secondaries. They are already atrociously inaccurate. Anyway, the primary reason for this post though was because I found a really neat picture of a 5 inch gun crew.

Looking at that picture, I wonder if that table is bolted down or is merely sitting there and free to move...

On a serious note, you can increase the range of the secondaries with modules and skills, though accuracy can be a huge issue at such far ranges (for secondaries)

The men below the turrets may have a better chance of surviving, since its mostly the top section that happens to be exploded.

There may be some casualties if it explodes. Considering there are live shells in there, or the blast coming through the ceiling and shrapnel.

Yeah, I just don't like that these guns are the same ones you find on like the Iowa and yet the Iowa guns only fire at like 4km or something stupidly low, and yet the Yamato is shooting at like forever away. Just a gripe, nothing more, you're usually halfway screwed if you need them anyway lol.

Wow. I wouldn't want to be in there if I was them. Those poor souls.

yup about 27 souls to be exact, per turret!

The Yamato's secondaries included 155 mm guns, the same as the Mogami's. The mounts (anything less than 8 inches is technically a mount, not a turret, the picture the OP posted says it is a mount), were actually taken from Mogami class cruisers when they were re-gunned to 203 mm, so yes, they should have a very long range. The Japanese 127 mm/40 cal AA gun, which the Yamato also carried, out-ranged the U.S. 127 mm/38 (5 inch) gun as well.

Yea, it's a pretty stupid double standard.

Perhaps you could try to hide under some cover? it could be possible if you are lucky enough to get into a area with enough protection to survive.

Be glad WoWS has no crews then :)

Imagine all the dead crew daily :O.

So? The guns on the side of the Iowa, and Montana, and North Carolina are all the same as the ones on the Atlanta, which has a sad 10km range, so why give only one ship in the game long range secondaries? I saw a video, with the skills and modules the yammy shoots at like 12km with those things. There's a video on youtube this guy doing like 78k damage with his secondaries because of this, that's insane.

Well actually the US 127/38 out ranged the Type 89.

I would like to see the crew modeled in a way, maybe not like people running around on the decks - as that would cause lag and really there wouldn't be that many people topside during battlestations anyway. But, it would be nice to see more crew in the game. Maybe not like EVERY sailor, though that would be awesome, but they could do department heads. IE Weapons Officer, Engineering, etc.

Montana does not have the same secondaries as Iowa. They are bigger guns, they should have a longer range.

Remember this?

That was an unfortunate incident. I feel bad for the families that were left behind. I hope this never happens again.

And all of their grieving families waiting at port. Man... I wouldn't like to face them like that.

Edit: My ability to type characters is so bad today. Changed some spelling errors.

I agree that while the secondaries not mounted in casements (which could not elevate to 45 degrees), should have a much longer range. The Yamato's 155 mm should still greatly out-range all other secondary guns.

The 5 inch /54 slated for the Montana had a range of about 26 K yards and a shell weight of about 70 pounds. The Japanese 6.1 inch/60 had a range of about 30 K yards and a shell weight of 123 pounds. The Yamato's secondaries should both out-range the Montana's, they should do more damage per hit. The 5 inch gun did have a much higher rate of fire, though.
