150 Planes?

The Kongo Phase 2 Mission seems almost impossible to me, since I never see carriers. I have to shoot down 150 planes? I think it will take 6 months at the rate I see planes on the BF. Any tips? Suggested tier? If you see me in game please launch your planes at me!

My recommendation is to pick up a carrier for that mission. It is very easy with a CV.

In the beginning you also had lots of killstealers, real stealers.

Waiting the entire time to just kill with 1 shot on a guarenteed death DD. Now it seems to be easier.

 

As for the planes get a CV buddy or a CV of your own.

I did my plane mission in under 3 hours with a CV.

gets really bad at T7-10 where there are tons of DDs but you'll never see them.

Wow! You've been lucky or unlucky on how you look at it; but I'm seeing 3 to 4 DD's per battle constantly when running Tier 6, 7 or 8.

If you get your hands on a Bogue or an Independence, you will have very little problem getting air kills.  I seriously did 150 in about 6 battles.

 

As for the DDs... my problem isn't that they're not in the battle, just that I don't have any cruisers to work on them right now.  I'm saving up to buy an Aoba, and I should have that fairly soon, but I'm really kicking myself for selling my Cleveland and Pensacola right now...

I think you know if you play as a DD there will be one on enemy team

There is no such thing as kill stealing. You just did not finish that ship

Fastest and easiest way to see planes is to use a CV yourself. I recommend Bogue. With that I got the 150 planes in 12 games. It would have been 10, but I had 2 games where once it was clear that I was dominating all the enemy planes, their CVs would stop sending them out

So far the 30 DDs has EASILY been the hardest for me. I don't play cruisers- and good lord trying to hit a DD who knows he is being targeted by a USN BB is an effort in futility. I ended up going full derp and trying to rely on secondaries before I gave up and used my Sims

You have to kill destroyers with a Tier 6+ ship.  It doesn't matter what tier the destroyers you kill are.

If he was actively shooting at it, and put the work for 90% of the target's health, I think he has a little bit of a right to gripe when someone swoops in for the kill.  Wasted effort and all...

I'm doing it with a CV buddy of mine.

Using my Myoko and my buddy's CV works for me. Currently at 16/150 planes lol (I kill an average of 6 - 8 planes per battle in my Myoko when I see CVs)

I used free XP to get to the tier 5 USN CV.  then it was a matter of 10 or so missions. Once I unlocked the double fighter ship configuration I started killing 20 to 30 planes a game.  it was a weekend thing, strated Friday night and by Monday I finished and did nothing extra but play MY CV a cople games every day.  By far the easiest part of the mission.

 

I only have one tier 6 ship so the DD portion of the Myoko is killing me.  I will probably never finish that mission.  I have one ship to do the entire mission with.

The best ways to do the plane kill mission are:  Play a CV yourself, or division up with someone who plays a CV while you play a ship with good AAA, like almost any US CA starting at tier 6.

 

And for what it's worth, the most difficult ARP mission part that I found was the 300 fires.  It wasn't that getting fires was all that hard.  It was that getting 300 fires was a real marathon, because unlike the planes mission, you rarely get more than 10 fires started in a battle.

 

 

And just to brag a little, I've already completed both ARP missions and have the ships in my port, not that I care all that much about ships with that clown camo and kiddie kaptains.

Watching an entire knife fight between ships waiting someone to shoot from 100% to 0,5% and then finally fire while you could of shot the target minutes ago. Id say thats stealing and you cant deny that.

JM, you're very, very wrong to assert that "bad players keep saying" that kill stealing doesn't exist.  In normal circumstances, it DOESN'T! 

 

However, I will say that when there's some big in-game mission going on where kills are an important component, then there will always be some players who kill steal.  Regardless, it's not worth getting all worked up over.  If you work a ship down to 1 HP and someone else gets the kill, if they did it "ethically", it's not a big deal and not really kill stealing in my book.  What I mean by "ethically" is that they were constantly shooting at enemies and only switched to the gravely wounded enemy to get him off the map ASAP.  The players I see as "unethical" are those who do nothing but wait for gravely wounded ships to appear and ONLY THEN do they shoot.  This sort of player is doing next to nothing to help his team win and is only thinking about himself, whereas the player who is constantly shooting and doing his job but does kill gravely wounded ships when they appear is helping his team and IMO is playing the kill mission ethically.

 

If you have a problem with this, then maybe you should reconsider how you're going about the kill missions.  Maybe the problem is in how you're approaching the kill missions.  And perhaps you need to think about switching targets when you see a gravely wounded ship nearby.  And the fact that maybe you've done 99% of the damage to an enemy ship does NOT mean that you have some holy right to finish it off and get the kill.

It really bites that the ARP missions don't take into account results from Ranked Battles.  Players end up having to make a hard choice between Ranked Battles or working the ARP missions in Randoms.  I've been mostly doing the latter, though since I've now completed both ARP missions, I may get back into Ranked.  We'll see.
