I'm in a Tier X match and this guy on my team has only played 361 games, has a 39.06% win rate, and an average damage of 19,664.71.  And he's driving an Iowa.

 

He's got 146 games in an Atago.  94 games in an Atlanta.  73 in a North Carolina.

 

I know you can convert xp for cash, but can someone who averages 899xp per battle make enough to level himself all the way to the Iowa?

 

He has 246 battles in co-op so there's not a lot going on there.

 

And Ranked says he hasn't participated.

 

I'm not complaining or anything, I'm just trying to figure out the math.  Are you able to jump from a premium ship to a regular ship of the next tier?  I don't own any premium ships I know of that can do that.  Then again, the ones I have only came from mission rewards and I was already well past them in tier (e.g. Marblehead).

 

He was afk the majority of the battle and finished second from the bottom.  Only appearing to take some pot shots at an already diminished opposing team.

Wouldn't botting be associated with a very high number of games played?  At least it was that way in Tanks where you'd see someone with 20k+ games.

There was a glitch in the ARP missions a while back (fixed now according to WG) and several players were able to get at least several million or billion free xp for one of the rewards (was supposed to be +5000 free xp, but it instead was x5000 free xp)

 

Thats probably how they did it. Then they just bought a shite ton of gold, converted it to silver, and free xp'ed their way to the top....f-ing sucks but yeah... that is what happens when WG decided to NOT take that free xp away....

  we are looking at about 400k xp at 1k/battle average.   probably bit higher with premium.      so call it 500-600k total xp.      if you go single line,  it is possible.

about 270k free xp potetial from random games (NC kinda throws a wrench into it)

probably about half that in co-op, so maybe 120k.

NC games maybe got him 50k xp on it.

so 440k free xp (really guesstimating here)

Probably some more from events and missions.

so lets say 460k. 

assuming Iowa is stock, NC only needs around like 200k xp and sorta drops by half each tier. So probably possible.

There are flag xp/free xp as well as camo xp boosters that are not counted in avg xp

idk, with that guy having such terrible stats, i highly doubt he was able to kill 30 cruisers and 150 planes in 2 days

This. Some lucky players got tons and tons of free XP for a broken mission reward.

You need to finish the second stage to get that, and considering how bad the player is, it's unlikely he did it in one/two days.

Maybe he got his free XP from the Anime glitch (Powerball winnings)

How many co-op battles would you need to get to the Iowa though? I have 329 co-op battles currently, and was only able to get to the New Mexico so far via co-op only, so I have a hard time believing someone could do that in 246 co-op battles, as OP has stated the player had.

Math time: (899 average xp) * (146 Atago games + 94 Atlanta games + 73 NC games) = 281k xp

 

If his coop xp average was the same (likely lower, but you didn't provide that figure): 246*899 = 221k xp

 

This gives a total of 502k xp that could be applied to getting the Iowa without taking any games played in any ships before the NC into consideration. Definitely doable, just needs deep pockets

only thing I can think of is buying enough signal flags to give them an EXP boost as they go,

@Clunas  Thanks for breaking it down, for some reason I thought getting up to Tier 9 required a bit more xp than that.  Then again, I level wide, I have played pretty much every ship class in every country because I like the variety, keeps it from getting boring.  So maybe that's why it feels like it requires more xp haha.

I'd have to go into the tech tree to double check the numbers, but it sounds close. Also I'm not sure if the average xp displayed takes first win bonuses into account. That would push the xp earned quite a bit higher if it doesn't. Plus throw bonus weekends, xp flags, and Christmas/Halloween camo into the mix....... yeah..
