A late introduction, and early farewell

We don't really have a place for farewell posts in this community, and maybe I think the forums really shouldn't, as that's like saying it's okay and normal to leave the game. I think that's quite the opposite, a game like this needs the support of its players and community if it is to thrive. But it was while I looked for a place to put my farewell that I realized how I never even introduced myself to this community either, how many here might have been in a game with me yet know nothing about me. As weird as that sounds, I decided to make it into both.

 

I'm Zucchan, a world of warships player from South America. This is actually the first and only WG game I played in my time since I got into gaming, and quite honestly it's likely staying that way. Originally I thought I was an old gamer, being almost on my 30s and playing games when everyone else I knew had other hobbies, it's a bit strange to be honest. But not here, I met people here that are teenagers and people who are gamers on their late 60's, and that's one awesome thing about this place. So many different people and different reasons why they play.

 

Throughout my time here, I'm sure many of you watched me have terrible battles, some might have been lucky to see me have not-so terrible ones. I'm sure I dedicated over five hundred hours to this game and enjoyed it very much. It was always a fun thing to come up against the people here, test my skills against very impressive players, or try to make up for those who weren't as good as me when teamed up with said people. I joined this game because an user here kept posting screenshots of it on a social media, and made me realize I never played a game with this theme. Maybe one day you'll get your Kitakami, my friend, even though I won't be here to play it with you, I know you love that ship.

 

I made amazing friends in this place, been a part of a few clans, and most of those friendships I'm taking with me, not out of the game of course, but to the rest of my life or for as long as they stick around. There's something beautiful about working together with people who are complete strangers to you and trying to create something out of your cooperation, preferably good results!

 

My life is heading to a direction I'm not happy with, right now it's a lonely place without much light, it's really hard to even call it a life at this point. Games do help to make the world feel less grey and lifeless, but in the end of the day, I'm still wasting away my life online and not fixing the actual problems I have, like my relation with my family, or fixing my bonds with friends who I left behind for no good reason, or even looking after my health, both physical and mental, I think it's honestly more broken than anything you people complain about in this game.

 

I just want to thank you all for being wonderful players, for having been a part of my time here, for having sank me so many times, for having been sunk by me so many times. I complained a lot about this community when a foul-mouthed being or two was causing trouble, and I know I made more than one snarky comment about people who whine about this game's balance or mechanics, but it was all in good fun. When I balance everything out, you're all friends to me, and I hope you all have a great time destroying ships and there's no way to tell the future

 

Maybe when everything's back in order for me, I might be here with everyone again? Maybe we were not friends this time around, but we can always be friends if I find myself among you once more. Good game, everyone, and fair seas
