so new topic stemming from an old one but I didnt want to derail it.

Short and curlies are: Someone linked me to the WoWS China website and their "anime" version when I found these interesting Kancolle inspired avatars:

Now I can not read Chinese at all, but I thought it would be fun to guess what ships these girls are representing.

My guess would be:

Battleship- North Carolina

Carrier: no idea- she doesnt really look like one of the in game carriers

Cruiser- Cleveland?

Destroyer- confirmed Shimakaze

What are your guesses?

The Destroyer is Shimakaze.

This might look familiar to some people:

And apparantly, posting images from the Kancolle CG page is blocked by the admins...

#3 is entirely fictional. As War Thunder Live's resident flying boat expert, there is NO warship that catapult-launched PBYs... as cool as that would have been

I thought Lexington, but the flight deck looks a little off

Considering the flight deck says 'LEX' I think the Saratoga sistership Lexington is a good assumption.

Imagine how big the catapults would need to be...

Not so much big as powerful. I mean a Nimitz class carrier can launch a C130 from standstill.

I was thinking cruiser or battleship mounted catapults. Those would need to be pretty beefy to hold something like a PBY.

No doubt. More like you'd just use a big damn hoist, put the PBS in the water and let the damn thing tsake off then launch it.

^ That plus the Lexington class was the only one with the big boxy stack housing behind the island.

The planking looks different than what's in game because the blue colored deck was of a more recent refit before the war. It had brown planking before that and I think at least the Saratoga used yellow lines.

Yep, the stacks are totally Lex/Sara stacks. Yorktowns had a similar structure, but there were only 3 stacks built into it IIRC.

That plus the Yorktown class's island structure was sort of built around the stacks somewhat. The Lexington class stack housing was more of a separate entity to the island.

1st Girl: I have no clue at all. It's definitely one of the later USN BBs though, with that three gun turret.

2nd Girl: The Lexington actually had 8 inch guns. The guns were in turrets similar to the Pensacola's. The 8 inch guns were where the 5 inch gun turrets are now around the island and smoke stacks.

3rd Girl: Going off of just the turrets, I'm going to guess Des Moines.

4th Girl: Either that's the Gearing, or Shimakaze decided to defect to the USN.

Some interesting speculation.

I did not find much else on the Chine Anime website, but inspecting all the page elements was not giving me access to all the images on there. There was certainly some interesting artwork though
