Do I have the terrible luck or is anyone doing more poorly ?

So I consider myself a above average player. I usually finish in the top 3 every match I play. Last season I did very well and definetly won more games then I lost.

 

This season is a complete disaster. I have played around 50 matches and MAYBE won 10. Really getting annoyed. I just switched to playing DD since I was playing CA but everytime a BB even looked at me I would get citadeled. No matter what angle I had my ship facing, which is another rant......

 

So I would like to hear if anyone else is getting there [edited]handed to them worse .

Doing great here.  80% win rate in two different ships.  So far.

 

Times will get a bit tougher as I crossed that Rank 10 threshold.  :-(

 

Honestly?  My teams have been super so far.  Very pleasantly surprised.  They have been a real upgrade over last season.

I'm an average player.  Lately I do around 35kish damage on average.  The last two days it's gone down to around 15k.  I've just been getting smashed relentlessly lately.  Constantly one shot, smashed by torps that don't appear until they're 100 yards away, getting hit repeatedly in a destroyer despite not being lit and constantly changing speed and course.  I have absolutely no clue why, but I just all of a sudden suck at the game.

It's all luck of the draw man. There are folks out there averaging less than 1k exp in randoms and pulled good players to achieve a 12 game win streak and shoot up to 10 or lower. If you are consistent then it's just a matter of time before you rank up. The real test of ranked battles is your patience

I think the player base is getting better, and the last season just ended, so what was learned last season is still fresh in people's memories.

 

plus, starting to play ranked when it is first realeased subjects you to stiffer competition b/c everyone is i the same boat. Great/good/ok/bad players alike.  After a few days most of  the greats and goods will have moved on.

Yup. If you want to console yourself, go over to the warshipstats.com and go to the leaderboard, then pick a BB and look at the top 10 players for Amagi or something similar. There are top players who average 120K damage a game but have a 44% win rate. So much depends on teammates and RNG. 

 

Remember, most of the maps are designed to produce quick collapses. All the split spawn maps like Shatter, Strait, and Hotspot are designed to produce quick collapses of one side, and that is determined by RNG in most cases, the players have little control. On maps like that winning or losing is just luck. On decent maps like Atlantic or Shatter or Trap, it's a matter of luck if you get good teammates and they are all having a decent game. 

 

Don't feel bad. You have time to play an enjoyable game. Could be a lot worse.

So my major [edited]of season 3 is that I got ported back to rank 18 (I did make it to rank 8 in season 2)... so that in and of itself? No big deal...  the big deal is I have to use ships that are tier 5 and 6...  the underlying problem is there are a LOT of players that their Tier 5 is the best they got and they have NO CLUE how to play a Ranked battle.   I find myself getting one team that knows what to do and win that match...   followed by 8 or 9 that have no clue, wander all over the map, dont work together and I lose...   not sure what the fix to that is but it is really getting me pissed at ranked battles....   Maybe let me use higher tiered ships? not with lower ones of course but higher tiers USUALLY means you know what you are doing?

Do not expect play by players to improve even at high tiers. Everyone's favorite HURTU player managed to get into 7s and 8s and still pushed by with a 35% WR.

Sometimes its hard to remember that we are only 1 part of a lot of in game variables, don't worry so much about the win rate.

yeah but I feel like I am getting more than my fair share of dipshits... as an example, I had one game where there were 2 BB's and a CV...  I was in my New Mex, and the other green BB was a Fuso.   So the FUSO decided to stay behind and guard the CV that wasn't moving to safety at all just sitting in his spawn point flying planes around...  so naturally, as the only BB up against their 2 NM's and a couple of cleves, (my CA's kinda stuck together but not with me and got [edited] by the red DD)... I found myself alone fighting 4 ships while the Fuso was out of range happily protecting our idiot CV..   I manged to kill one NM and a Cleve but couldn't tank all the damage long enough.  In the whole time I was in that map and still alive I don't think our Fuso fired a single shot...

 

This is just one example.   i am by no means a perfect player at ALL....  but Jesus, Mary and Joseph, season 3 seems to be OVER populated with F'ing morons....  has been this way every day I try to play.

OP sometimes it is necessary to try a different play style. Perhaps if you try maybe a few Leeroy Jenkins / YoLos ? Bahnzhais to get a different feel for the ship. Play as a scout only in a DD. Play the type ship that destroyed you.Try different things.

I bounce 18" shells with my Atago, Mogami, and New Orleans. Enable replays and try to find out what you did wrong.

In the same "boat" OP. Have had terrible matches in my Benson and Mogami. Think I will try my Blys tonight but its win 1 lose 2-3. Just figured all the top dogs were out and it will be tougher to advance this early in the season (compared to late season 2). I jhopped into some random matches after a losing streak to see if I lost any skill, and nope, did just fine finishing as top dog in some of them. Plus I saw a post last night that there are very very few people even at rank 10 and the wait times are stupidly long. So as those above said, guess we just need to be patient and keep at it.

Take a day off from ranked. Do some Arpeggio missions or something. Slamming face first into disappointment gets old and rarely results in a streak break.

This last week everything's gone down. Last month was above 2.0 K/D. This month is about 1.3 so far. Damage is lower than last month, K/G, everything. I need to sacrifice goats to the MM and RNG gods again.
