I just got back into the game after a long hiatus maybe a month or two after OB at most. I always been a dedicated carrier player. The game didn't seem much different until the last patch that changed the spread of my bombers and added barrage which is kind of nifty. I'm having some major issues at Tier 8 with my Shokaku. The Lex's planes are kind of too strong. Doing a barrage on an unsuspecting circling fighter squadron? They lose 2 at most. Three if I'm lucky. Not that changes much because then I just lost half of my ammo and their fighters never seem to run out. So what happens often even when I tag team with two squadrons, they will normally run out of ammo long before the USN squadron and then they get beaten to death like kitties. This is with both fighter module upgrades btw. The effectiveness and survivability. Did USN planes get faster too? Its pretty much impossible to catch up with bombers RTB'ing to punish them. Only way to catch them is before the bombing run. I've tried to rush the enemy Lexington before a few times but most of the time I lost all of my planes before most could even start their bombing run. That AA is too strong. Will it get any better at Taiho or should I give CVs a break after the Blue Steel event?

IIrc they are so fast that they can outrun strafing run if you start it more than 1km behind them.

They've also been trying to discourage knockout-punch strikes at the beginning of the match against enemy carriers with those penalties. If you lose your planes you're down for a whole minute while the enemy carrier pounds away. I haven't been able to meet a Lexington on even ground yet (as I don't have Shokaku and never ran into a fully-upgraded Lexington in PT), but I haven't seen many Shokaku players on the other hand, so I'm guessing that T8 is going to be frustrating. I'm not up there yet but... I'm kind of noticing a lot of usn carriers. Might just be my luck of the MM but I wonder if they're the more popular line now? Kind of seems that way... At tier VIII, 9/10 times it is a Lexington. They are disgustingly stronger compared to Shokaku too.
