I bought the Blyskawica and am wondering how game play with that ship is similar or different to that of the Russian DD line? Thanks.:honoring:

It's a very scary Kiev.  It's 8K torps make it a force to be feared.  It's a bit buttery on the armor side, tho...

It is a very good little ship. It plays a lot like pre-patch Kiev.

So when people talk about flat trajectories in Russian DDs, you're saying I can see that in the Blyskawica?

Very similiar if not exactly the same.

In other words, the blys is a tier 7.5 russian DD lol

I got into a close range fire fight with one in my Kiev last night and won, but not by much.  I think I had like 300 hit points or so when I killed him.  It was really funny though... as soon as he died, a nearly full health Farragut came around the corner 1.5km away and (I'm assuming) was so excited to finally be able to torp something that he didn't fire his guns.  I ram killed him haha.

This may be the best overall DD in the game below tier 8

Its certainly better than the Sims in Torp range and firing capability, maybe not shell damage.

If I ran higher than Tier 8 I might see a difference

No, not quite as flat but good velocity and rapid reload.

Actually the Blys has a long reload in comparison to the Russian DDs (6.5 secs as opposed to 5 secs). The Blys is 3.5 knots slower than the Kiev and that actually make a pretty big difference b/c the Kiev once equipped with a speed boost flag and engine boost active can zoom along at 48.9 knots (as opposed to 44.9) and at that speed you are pretty much going too fast for the average Wows player to be able to reliably hit you. 44.9 knots is just on that threshold were most players cant reliably hit you but a reasonably portion can, its really more like fast USN DD speed but without USN DD maneuverability. The guns are good, but not VMF DD good and have surprisingly bad arcs when firing forward. Its fast, but not VMF fast. It does have tier 8 levels of HP and that is awesome. The torps have longer range but are only ok. Where the Byls shines though is that it doesn't have the absurd 5.9 km add to its detection range when firing its guns that the VMF does so it can invisasnipe out of the box and it only gets better with a skilled captain. All in all its kind of a hybrid between the VMF and the USN DDs, maybe leaning a little more towards the VMF. Taking the package as a whole its a damn good ship.

The Grem is very good, but the turret rotation means you have to be a lot more careful in planning your manuvers and is a severe problem if knife fighting happens.

I completely forget if it can stealth fire the guns out of the box. I should play mine more.

Thanks. I'm guessing your answers mean the guns are similar to what I could expect if I were to go down the Russian DD line.

Edit: Sorry for the double post. Internet issues.:child:

Thank you. Makes sense.

I get the feeling the OP mistakes the Polish destroyer as something made by the Russians.

Don't make this mistake.  The guys who built this destroyer were British.  The torps are British but the main guns were Swedish (her original fit).  The actual museum ship was outfitted with British main guns though, part of a 1941 refit.

Gremy is the best DD at its tier, all tiers included.

The closest comparison to Bly is Gremy imo, not as "OP" because of how much better cruisers are at T7. Bly doesn't share a lot in common with the Soviet DD tree, just as Gremy doesn't.

I think it's a bit different from Kiev.

Kiev can and should actively hunt and shoot at enemy DDs

Blyskawica should not, as it does not have enough firepower, due to the slower firing guns.

Armor on a DD is a non-issue. Sluggish rudder shift and large turning radius is the area where Blyska is most deficient. But hey, I ain't complaining -- as a total package, that DD is awesome.

Slow turret traverse is literally the only bad thing about Gremmi. That ship is a beast.

Also, Blyska has a somewhat mediocre turret traverse.

Yea, the Blis is one of those DDs where running rudder shift mod rather than the improved acceleration mod is probably the better option.

It may be mediocre, but it is just fast enough to not cause significant problems while fighting and maneuvering.
