Stayed outta the last season cause from what I read, there was nothing to keep players from bringing a T5 ship into a T9-10 battle, so figured my T6 NM and Aoba wouldn't be able to participate. Did a couple Ranked yesterday in my NM (rank 21 atm), won both. I absolutely loved my teams, we all loaded in quickly and immediately talked tactics; I may be partly responsible for our wins because I reminded everyone to focusfire the enemy team one ship at a time and flag any that were low HP.

 

At any rate, it was more enjoyable than the clueless players I see in Randoms a lot. How's Ranked working out you for this season?

So far today 1-5. Went from 13 to now zero star 15. 

 

The same bullcrap as before. [edited]teams that drag players who want to win down.

Started rank 14, lost 3 battles and now Rank 15 at 0 stars. Teams are just as bad as last Ranked. If I don't rank up to 10 by this weekend, I'm jumping ship lol the quality of teams is going to quickly degrade :(

The massive amounts of DD's is making is hard for me to enjoy my NC.

I am running into too many yolo DDs on my team and when we need them, I'm the only one left :( Also currently, only a handful of people can play CAs well and BBs are soft capped at 2 per team

 

That creates DD spams. Plus caps are really important in Ranked and DDs are best cappers. It is currently the meta sadly. Capping DDs would be a problem though, since capping BBs at 2 and capping DDs at 3 means the game would not start till they find 4 CAs (2 per team) before a game can be assembled.

Started at rank 15. Went 12-2 on day one, maxed out at rank 10.2 and now can't find a battle. Looks like I'm gonna have to wait for more bads to fail their way to the next bracket. Fortunately I ended with those two stars into rank 10, so I get to sit on top of the shipcomrade leaderboard for a bit!

I tried two battles last night for my first ever ranked battles and both times I finished in first on the leader board in the worst derp teams you see in random.  Half the team was dead in the first 3-4 minutes and no losses on the other side.

 

I'll give it another go today.

 

I think this game really needs a strongholds mode like in Tanks.  Something, anything to reduce the number of tomatoes on your team.

 

They at least need to make it so that if you finish first on a losing team, it doesn't move you back in ranking.  Seriously, how hard is that to implement.  WG is the ultimate tomato.

Which, is stupid. I'd rather have a team full of CA's and BB's instead of DD's that immediately die. Nothing like having three DD's die within a minute of each other, losing not only your spotters, but now you have to go head on into the awaiting torpedo salvo you can't see because of the smoke. 

 

Which, doesn't make me mad. Just a bit of a nuisance.

CAs die just as fast. CAs were actually handi-caps for my teams during season 2. They died just as fast even well angled and cost more points to lose than DDs :shrug:

Not in my current experience. Thankfully. Just wish they'd go get the DD's like they're supposed to do.

Played about 7 battles at start of season..game was inundated with AFK's or people with weak connections and its was getting pretty annoying, manged to win two of those battles including one with AFK BB..used him as a shield.

Kinda got frustrated with that so never went back..but will at some point..turned to grinding some ships instead.

 

The game "type" really appeals to me..but honestly will more than likely wait till you can enter these type of battles with a clan or the like.

 

Random team work is random. And rather then play battles that require heavy lifting...would love to work with a "team"..thats whats really appealing to me about the ranked battle type..not the actual ranking system..just good games with people who want to work together.

 

but Gratz to those who pushed through to Rank 1, definitely had to have people put on their carry pants for that!.

First match: Our mexico rushes into entire enemy team and gets killed, with our highest tier BB dead we fall as well against tier warspite and cruisers, I did get two kills though. (I did kill the warspite and furutaka but that's kinda a moot point when only 3 of their ships died...)

Went 2-3 last night in a Fujin. I can run a 15-skill captain in there and have a detection range of 5.4, which I thought would help in grabbing cap points.

 

And it did. But my teams would just get out-gunned and die, making the capping pointless.

 

I'm tempted to switch to my New Mexico or Fuso, which I'm more successful in, but the BB queue is quite a bit longer. Or maybe I'll re-buy the Farragut. I'll run the Fujin a few more times first likely.

You become numb to losses as they pile up.

5-0 with 16 point benson capt from my fletcher. 

Last season ran amagi to rank 1 but sold it and bought the 9. I decided to DD this season.

Taking a bit of time to figure out the slightly diffrent play required for the tweaked maps. I'll get better with time.

 

Rushing caps alone at the start is a lot riskier and less profitable than last season.

I had good teams so far and won all but the first. Went from Rk18.1 to Rk15.1 in no time, then called it a night. First one (loss) with Fujin, all the rest with Nürnberg.

 

Tonight I switch to T7-T8 so it gets tougher. Not sure if I go CA or DD. Will probably start with Mogami or Atago, and see what the composition at Rk15+ is. Might switch to Fubuki/Benson/Blyskawica if I see it plays better in that environment.

I haven't played them enough to vote an opinion, but I'm loving my free day of premium from it.

 

So far it seems that I can't do any better than win-one-lose-one in any of my tier 6 ships, but when I bring out the lovely and vicious Gremyashchi, it's straight to the top, baby!

That first part is incorrect. Tiers in the first season were Tier 6 and 7 ships only. Nothing else is allowed to queue up. The second season, there was a Tier 5-6 section for lower ranks, and Tiers 7-8 for upper ranks. So no one was bringing tier 5 ships into a tier 9 or 10 battle, since you can't bring 9s or 10s. You can't even bring a Tier 5 into a tier 7 battle.

I think ranked is a highly inefficient way of having fun by playing this game because of its smaller team sizes. Less ship means less intense battle and harder to get achievements like Kraken Unleashed. All in all, ranked is just not as entertaining.

 

However, I do find with such smaller team size, it's a better mode to hone your skills and improve your teamwork as you team up with your friends.

Easier to get High Caliber though.

 

 

Last season I got frustrated with it and quit at lvl 4, so far this time round 9 games 5/4 win loss. A couple of poor teams and I've been poor in one game but reasonable in the others.

 

To stop frustration I am keeping a record of xp & cash earned. So far $3.1m & 35k XP.  I want to end the season with (hopefully a pirate flag), another 15 point captain and enough cash to buy a Gearing.

Rank 15-11 is the irrevocable pit of hell. Very few have been able to get through it to rank 10 and most of those were right at the start before many made it back to rank 15.

Especialy with little support. I keep getting in and finding the team abandoned the plan
