Switch back to Destroyer from Cruiser

Ok I am a new player. Worked my way up to Cruiser. But once you play with a Cruiser there does not seem to be a way to go back to a Destroyer.

Do you have to setup a new account? Does not make any sense, cannot pick destroyer in the tech tree

Thanks

There are multiple lines that branch from one ship, usually around tier I-IV.  Going down that branch, there's only one way to go - down that branch.

To continue down a different branch, you have to backtrack to a tier where you can access the next ship in a tree.  There is inter-class research in World of Warships.

Did you research the destroyer in the tier 2 ship that they branch out from? If not, you need to play that ships some more and research the destroyer. If you did research it, you just need to go to the tech tree and select it (it should have a green highlight) and you can buy it there.

Lol, next time you play a T1, T2 make sure to complete it, its worth the 5 minutes and you wont have to come asking such a (no offense) dumb question.

I do hope you enjoy using a destroyer though! they are quite fun :3

Still seems like it should be easier or some instructions on picking a ship.

When I started with destorers I thought I played all of them.

But since I picked a Curser that is the only option it gives me, no way to now even see a different tier. Unless I resign up with a different email address.

Picking ships should not be that difficult and should at least be something in the training videos.

Update. Seems like there was some glitch with the game. Now the tech tree is different and makes sense.

Only problem is the game tells you to research ship but not button to do so. Maybe do need to reinstall?

Would make more sense to simply say purchase a ship. Or at least explain how to research one.

Click on the icon, in the tech tree, of the ship you want to buy.  Ships that you have the xp to research will have a green background.  You will be redirected to your port, where you can look over the ships' features.  On the right hand side, under the small picture of the ship, will be a green bar that says research, and an xp#.  Click that.   It'll ask you to confirm the research- click yes.  Then you'll be asked if you want to purchase it.  You needn't purchase it right away- it stays researched.

You must have enough xp on the prior ship to research the next.  For example, if you wish to research the St Louis, you need to gain enough xp with the Chester first.     Free xp can be used for this, but that is better saved for buying modules to upgrade your existing ships.

Look on the tech tree, there will be a small arrow leading from certain ships to others.  That tells you which ships you can research from THAT ship.  You cannot just go willy nilly- you have to go in the right order.  Premium ships can be bought at any time, but they cost $$ or doubloons- which cost $$.  Those are available through the tech tree, too.

Also, once you've researched every ship you can from a certain ship, AND purchased all the modules, your ship will gain elite status- which means you can exchange that ship's xp for free xp.  It costs a small handful of gold doubloons to do, but it's a good way, short of selling ships to get free xp.   This way you can buy modules for a new ship right away, without having to slog through battles with the stock version.   The hull module is nearly always worth it- often you'll get more guns, or improved ones- you always gain more hp.
