What do you not like to see within the first 3 min or so of a match?  What gives you a sinking feeling that you are on a losing team?  For me I can generally tell if I have an overly passive/non-aggressive team within bout 3 min. Tentative players in cruisers who will not advance and try sniping from so far away they don't hit jack. This splits up your team with some attacking and some really not doing squat.  Fear of dying is overrated.  Just surviving is overrated....or it can be taking to the extreme and insure a lose.  There are players who are willing to let others do the work for them and then I guess they think they will mop up for the win.  What often happens is they are left facing overwhelming numbers and they die anyway.  Maybe I am overly aggressive...could be.  By the way I am not so hot myself but I fight.  I don't have much wiggle room to criticize but I feel what I have said is fair.

About 4 minutes in, by then you can see a lack of focus, the glory hounds and that which you have discussed. I still try to win, not kill for stats...win.

If three or four of my team mates are dead or going between the tits of Two Brothers in the first few minutes. I'm pretty good at carrying a sack of potatoes... but I need the potatoes to exist for me to carry them.

Victory is the reward.  Little else matters to me.  All the other stuff will come with victory.  XP, credits, etc.  I don't worry at all about that stuff.

Teams that do not respond to requests from more experienced players when they make reasonable requests, like "do not leave east flank unprotected". Nah. Often times they all go one way and leave only a token one or two brave souls on that flank. It is early, they do not see anybody red yet, that means there is nobody coming through the undefended flank, right?

More than once I went towards the flank closest to spawn (which is normal), and had to double back early, and cross to the other side when the spawners on that side left a lone DD or CL to defend it and went away. That is a sign of a bad team, and you can tell in the first 3 minutes.

Also, as posted above, when a DD or two in the first few minutes head to the crack of Two Brothers. I tell them don't do it It is suicide. It hurts the team. You gonna die. All red team is still near their cap. yada, yada, to no avail. They do their own thing, and what will the outcome be? You got it.

I don't claim to be a wizard. I am barely average as an individual damage-giver, but with 2k+ battles, I understand strategy and tactics in WOWS.

In Tier IX and X, as soon as I zone in and see:

  • 6-8 BBs per team OR
  • 4-6 DDs per team OR
  • 2 DDs on my team and 5 on the opposing team OR
  • 1 CV on each team

I pretty well know it's a loss.

Often times I feel as though the match is slipping away at the beginning but I never throw the towel in unless it is a complete route or we are getting capped out with no chance to reset.

So usually 4-6 min in.

First 5 with the initial splitting of forces is a decent indicator, especially with what any of the DDs are doing or more specifically not doing.

I have noticed that once you are down 3-4 ships it is damn hard to turn the game around unless you got some good players left.  Can be done for sure but it's hard. THAT is why I hate back of the map azz sitters.  They will let their team mates die while doing nothing.  They might as well not even be in the game.

Generally, if people start arguing with each other at the beginning of the match over something stupid, then it's a good indicator that your team's not going to be pulling much.

Generally, if I'm on the team, things are not looking good for a win. I believe I hold the record for most "First Sunk" awards per match. I am one of those players to look for when deciding if you're on a losing team.

Nevertheless, I first know it's going to be a bad day when I am dutifully scouting ahead in my DD, when I spy some enemy capital ships, I have started to turn away when all the rest of their fleet appears and I am instantly receiving the undivided attention of 2 BBs, 3 CAs, and 3 DDs. Seems to happen a lot, as soon as I have located some of the enemy, seemingly all of the enemy is in range.

I also can be a "back of the map azz sitter". That seems to be my best tactic on the Konigsburg. Keep the enemy just within my range, but not too close, so as to use my ship's strength of range. That sometimes keeps me back near the carriers, which I can also help with AA defense. Sometimes defending a home cap can be a good tactic, I often do well (which for me is 2-3 kills) when I'm in a good spot near our cap and let the enemy ships come to me.

I find that if someone on the team says something like: "RIP us" then the efficiency of all the players goes down and we do typically lose. However, nothing is set in stone with these games, and it's a very realistic possibility to haven the entire enemy team still alive, when there are only three allies of yours alive and to still win via capping. Never give up; show adversity in the face of bad odds! :izmena:

Took me 1 minute in the last game.

Ranked battle, open ocean, 3 cap, the enemy had 3 DD and we 2.

Idea: DD stay together and kill the other, while going to mid cap.

Sure that one DD player want to yolo the other cap and run into the complete enemy fleet.

Players that head to worth less parts of the map on the get-go (typically 1 & 10 lines) especially on the North map and especially for players that head for the 10 line on that map.

When my wife walks into the room, sits down  and give me 'the look'.  Particularly bad if she doesn't say anything during this drill.

If I don't bail immediately to tend to her concern I'll hear about it for a week.  Or perhaps worse, I'll get the cold shoulder for more than a week.

Oh, you were talking about in-game events?  My apologies.

I've seen some amazing comebacks so I keep playing till I'm sunk.

This right here. My one and only "Solo-Warrior" came when I was in my New Mexico. Standing there, obviously alone (no I don't "snipe" as some might want to predict), but I was engaged up until the last minute, the last second, against all odds. If I recall there were 5, maybe even 6 enemies trying to cap and take the last CP. With time running out and me dancing around, losing HP. Time finally ran out, me having survived the battle and the team being victorious.

Never give up, never surrender. No matter the odds, no matter the foe. Even the sun shines on a dogs a** some days.
