Only a couple battles in and it doesn't seem like a ship that will carry a match but she seems way more capable than her reputation. She's got more HP than ibuki but those rainbow guns make shooting at range difficult.

Honestly I havent even shot outside of the detection range yet so I haven't noticed a bad arc, haven't gotten the range upgrade as of yet. I have been just trying to sit on a groups of Battleships and waiting for opposing players to get to close, doing a lot of damage doesnt seem to be a priority in Baltimore as far as I can tell. 26 [VF-10] Lieutenant_Horn Beta Testers 206 posts 4,886 battles Report post #4 Posted January 7, 2016 I'm working mine as an AA stealth cruiser. You heard that right, AA Stealth Cruiser. I've only got the range ship upgrade at the moment (credit crunching still) but I do have MBM 1, AA Mod 2, and the concealment mod. I also have the concealment skill for my captain which gives me a detection range of 10km. I'm going to get the range module and hull & gun upgrades next. Being able to get closer to CAs before they detect me negates the shell arc woes. I made a Mogami and Ibuki pay for their mistakes very quickly. Keeping the AA skills and 2nd mod still makes me a decent AA cruiser, but my primary function is as a gun cruiser.

Baltimore's best function to me is AA and whacking other cruisers, I just default to AP and hug some battleships till opposing Cruisers wander to close and pray to RNG. I don't have the range module upgrade and so far haven't missed it, I prefer holding my concealment and getting closer over a long range shot. Just got Concealment Expert and wow that 1ish k makes a difference, plus the commander works really well swapping into the Atlanta and Marblehead. As I have been using it so close the next commander skill I get will be the torp detect one so I can have a bit more reaction time.
0 D_man Beta Testers 12 posts 3,483 battles Report post #6 Posted January 10, 2016 The way I run my Baltimore is purely as a support either for destroyers pushing a cap, or adding my guns to a Battleship brawl. I am changing over to range and accuracy mods over AAA, as CVs are super rare. I only fire while Invisible or if something is close enough to spot me anyways. If alone only do some hit and run harassment. on domination I spend my time helping Destroyers take caps by chasing off enemy destroyers or distracting incoming cruisers/battleships. It is extremely hard to do meaningful damage or get kills as IJN/SMS cruisers just out DPM you and Destroyers run or smoke. Just be a distraction and help when possible.
