So I decided to do the missions, since why not, might as well get collector ships. I passed the first stage on the Kongo mission pretty easily (with Murmansk), and I am wondering what's the most effective way to get the 150 planes? I would prefer not having to do AS CV but if I have to... 

Also, how about the first stage of the Myoko one? What's a good ship that not only kills dds easily, but also meets dds a lot and is tier 6 and higher? I was thinking the Cleveland, but I really don't like it; and the Mogami, but don't have credits for it. Any suggestions?

I'm almost all of them in the Cleveland. It's deadly to DDs at close range, kills cruisers, and the AAA boost is pretty awesome. Just head for clusters of enemy aircraft, press T and watch them explode. 

 

My problem is that CVs are in pretty short supply in the Tier VI+ games. 

I also play for the cruisers in a Minekaze, but it's easier to kill BBs now. Everyone is gunning for cruisers and if a cruiser is in range, 5 or 6 ships will be firing at it.

if you have the new prem. Russian destroyer use that....it chews up other DD's with its main batterys like Chewbacca ripping your arm off

If you have a well capable anti-aircraft ship, and to help matters, you can division with a carrier to be forever sure there are enemy aircraft to shoot down.

Easier than that for aircraft kills would be... well, be the aircraft carrier with tons of fighters.

As for destroyers... not sure.  Thinking gunboat DD, or Cleveland/Mogami... but you'll have to remember as a cruiser- everything is gonna shoot at you.

I did it with the tier 5 Bogue in fighter superiority setup.  I easily averaged 10-15 kills per game.

Actually, with the event going on, I've been seeing carriers all over the place.

I completed the 150 plane kills quite easily using the Independence. It was merely a matter of learning how to use the alt-fire strafing attack on the fighter squadron (using the air superiority loadout does help, too). Otherwise, you'd probably have the most success shooting down planes using (ironically) battleships, since carrier players are generally allergic to cruisers for some reasons...

What ship is that? There is no Soviet DD there. (Or are you referring to the Blyskawica which was for sale recently? If so, it is NOT Soviet, it is Polish.)

There's also the Gremyaschy, but it's not exactly new. It was a pre-order ship available along with Sims and Yuubari. It's currently the only premium Russian destroyer in the game (though not for sale right now). Although you can't complete the Myoukou's missions (Since it's only tier V), it can be quite useful for achieving cruiser kills. Those 130mm guns make picking off poor Omaha class cruisers easy.
