Two Catapult Fighters at Once?

I'm currently retraining my Midway captain on my Marblehead, who has the Air Supremacy Skill (+1 Fighter and +1 Bomber per squadron), and I just noticed that I had two active catapult fighters at once.

Unfortunately, the next time I activated my catapult fighter consumable, there was only one aircraft. I'm also unsure if it previously behaved like two actual fighters or just one, I was too busy in a gun fight to notice if there were two aircraft shot down when an enemy fighter squadron came and shot them down, but not without losing one of their own! :playing:

Yeah, the ability adds an extra plane to your squadron, just like it says in the description. Working as intended. :)

 

You didn't get it the second time because you didn't have enough in reserve.

Doesn't the Yamato have more planes? It'll be even better than the Montana in the CV role too. :trollface:

I was under the assumption that it was stated some time ago that the skill does not work on floatplanes. 

 

And I guess it makes some sense why I had only one the second time, but I still would've had one charge left. 

 

Anyways, I'm running through the replay and I saw when I had two launched one after the other. Running through the replay again to get a screenshot of that.

I think it only has one catapult... a few ships have 2... I think we found the reason!

Long story short, air supremacy works for catapult fighters. However, it doesn't change your reserve count, so ships with smaller hangars run the risk of having their entire hangar depleted in two launches.

They'd be more useful if they flew/launched separately. Sure, they're twice as effective when engaged, but often my fighter will be on the opposite side from the enemy torp bombers.
