Secondary Guns and Bonus

Been playing both coop and random.  In coop boosting your secondary with captain skills can be very nice, and provide a lot of good additional damage.  But, I find in random most of the play (especially in a battleship) is outside the range of secondary.  Is it even worth the captain bonuses when playing random to beef up your secondary.  Or do you get het bonuses for the AA bonus?  Can't even recall the last time my secondary guns opened fire on another warship in random.

Depends on the type of ship you're playing.

 

If you're playing USN BB, you definitely want skills that upgrade your secondaries because they are meant for close-range brawls (North Carolina being an exception).

 

IJN BB...not so much, though the AA bonuses are a good thing, especially at higher tiers where carrier planes can destroy you in one strike.  The exceptions to this are Nagato and Izumo, both of which are brawlers.  I can also say the same of Mikasa because she has a huge number of secondaries by any standard.

Happens to me a lot it seems , lol .  I usually hope it  is doing some good when a DD sneaks up on me and then that extra range and accuracy help ( some ) . Plus I like getting Close Quarters achievements .
