Hi guys,

Just finished the ARP Kongou Mission, and she's a real beauty.

For those of you who don't have the time to grind fast through the missions or don't want to do them, you can use a Arpeggio Kongou Skin already created by other World of Warships users. They are quite similiar, the following pics will show them respectively. First one is the official Kongou, second one is the fan-made Kongou. Please feel free to compare which one you like better:

If you like the fan-made Arpeggio Kongo Skin, you can find the download link and additional screenshots here from the original creator: http://forum.worldofwarships.com/index.php?/topic/60763-extracted-wg-arpeggio-of-blue-steel-skins/

Browse through the thread, they published a lot of beautiful Arpeggio Skins for tons of ships already. There also Arpeggio Skins for USN or other nations ships, like Iowa, Lexington, Tirpitz or Warspite.

now let's head on to the main part:

Arpeggio Takao Skin - Tsundere Heavy Cruiser

Since there are many in forum who hoped WG will introduce the Takao Skin, here's a fan-made custom skin for those who don't like to wait and want to drive in their beloved Tsundere Heavy Cruiser right now.

First there will be some screenshots of her, then you will get the direct download link. A quick guide how to pass them into the right folder to use them easily will follow.

more screenshots from different angles (note there are 3 pics of Takao's Mental Model in the front, the stern part of the ship, and right at the front part of the bridge):

I still didnt figure out how to use the correct gun turrets skins, but since these are only minor details, its okay. Also it should be mentioned that the fan-made Arpeggio Takao Skin will appear together with the official Atago Skin of WG. You can clearly see the original Atago skin turrets camo or the white wave camo on the hull of the ships. Surprisingly they both do complement each other in a very good way.

You can find this skin amongst lots of other Arpeggio Skins on the same thread mentioned above:

Or if you prefer the shorter direct way, click this link to directly download the files:

https://www.mediafire.com/?s3abf0zug027rgi

How to install / use the Arpeggio Takao Skin

1. Download Arpeggio Takao Skin here: https://www.mediafire.com/?s3abf0zug027rgi

2. Check your World of Warships folder: There is a res folder and a res_mods folder.

3. Unzip the files. You will get a "common" and a "japan" folder.

4. Create new folders in the res_mods folder, so you have the path: "World of Warships\res_mods\0.5.2.1\content\gameplay". (Go into the 0.5.2.1 folder, creater a new empty folder "content", then go in the "content" folder, create a new empty folder "gameplay" in there etc.)

5. Copy the "common" and "japan" folder from Arpeggio Takao Skin into the path you've just created: They should look like: "World of Warships\res_mods\0.5.2.1\content\gameplay\common" and ""World of Warships\res_mods\0.5.2.1\content\gameplay\japan"

6. Enjoy the beautiful Arpeggio Takao Skin and rock on the high sea!

additional notes:

  • The res folder contains graphics, skins, audios etc. of the original World of Warships game. The res_mods folder contains everything additional you want to install, like mods, skins etc.
  • The structure of both are the same. So if you want to install additional stuffs, check the path structure of the original files in the res folder, then create the same path structure in the res_mods folder, and put the new files in there
  • Game client will first check the data contained in the res_mods folder, and if detected, use them first instead of the data in the res folder. That means you can relax, because you won't accidentally delete any original files (cause they are all in the res folder), when you just install new mods/skins in the res_mods folder.
  • After an client update no mods/skins will continue to work. You have to copy all data in the newest client folder. For example: Move all data from the folder "0.5.2.0" to "0.5.2.1".

Performance of Atago/Takao:

Just got Atago since Christmas times. After the earlier struggles (~39% winrate) with her, I've finally figured out how to play her the right way. And if correctly played, despite the uber-sized-citadel-syndrome, she's truely an awesome ship to play with.

Characteristics:

  • simply a beauty (especially with the skin)
  • very fast ship
  • concealment value is very good (with upgrades ~10km)
  • can recover HP
  • forward torpedo arcs are good, although you can only fire 1 salvo of 4 of them instead of 8
  • versatile - can played in very different roles/functions
  • (relatively) weak AA
  • can easily be citadelled - be prepated to get one-shotted sometimes

Many mentioned that the Murmansk is the best premium ship to farm credits with. Well, the Atago can definitely keeps up with her, while playing with Atago feels more rewarding and fun, because there is so many options/roles you can decide to take. And when doing well, you can even outperform the Murmansk. (screenshots proof below:)

Tsundere Heavy Cruiser Carnival Dayo Mode - the Kraken unleashed! :red_button::izmena:

Tactics available for Atago to play are for example: Use her good concealment to do a good alpha dmg salvo at enemy cruisers. Sneak in and torps distracted BBs. Stay with your own BBs and support them. Use your fast speed to cap if possible or to support/reinforce your team at the other side of the map. Stay close with your DDs at the beginning of the match, rush in behind them and try to snipe enemy DDs. So because you can play her in various styles, she's so much fun to play and I definitely recommend her if you like variety in a highly versatile ship!

Thanks for reading!

& Many thanks for the creators of these Arpeggio Skins for World of Warships! Again, you'll find them here:

Just to note, the ARP ship isn't just a skin, its also a voice pack, and the effects of fires and battle wounds on your ship are also more of an animated style.

Do the Arpeggio ships get any sort of credit boost like premiums or is that just wishful thinking?

unfortunately wishful thinking ^^

I also think they don't have a credits gain boost. Cr gain rate during games was about the same like the normal Kongo. And WG already mentioned the Arpeggio mode is optional, that means, in case someone deactivated the mod they would only see a normal Kongo with the stats of a normal Kongo (which probably also include the Cr gain factor).

Part of that is false, if you switch ports, the ship disappears. It is only in the arpeggio port, hence you cant sell it
