I find myself with a gift card for barnes and nobles but they are very pricey for what they sell so I am considering using it for doubloons. I am wondering though if anyone who has done the gift card trade for doubloons found it worth it at all.

They let you see the number of doubloons you'll get before you actually complete the transaction so you can decide if you want to do it or not. The doubloons/dollar rate is pretty low (a $50 Target card would've gotten me 9030 doubloons, which is a worse rate than even the cheapest premium shop package), but it's up to you if you ever plan to use that card or not.

I did it with an REI gift card...  Not because of anything wrong with REI, but just that it's winter, and I am seriously stocked up on outdoor gear right now...

Anyway, it worked out I got 14,500 doubloons for a $75 gift card.  Not the cheapest way to by doubloons, but not the most expensive.  Hopefully they should last me a few months.

I agree about Barnes & Noble... I'd rather buy books from Amazon.

Same, I used to enjoy Barnes and Noble but it seems their prices got inflated and their Nook (which I own) doesn't actually have as many options as the kindle equivalent now adays. Which is why I am considering using it for doubloons.

Thanks for letting me know tallstar5 will check it out.
