I just started playing CV's about a week ago and at first I loved it, but then I started to realize how broken this class was. I really dont have anything new to add as my gripes are the same as everyone elses on here. Im just hoping that if we get enough threads going and enough ppl voicing their opinion that WG will have to take notice. I thought i read somewhere that WG has stated they werent happy with CV play. Is that true/official? Has anyone heard if they're looking into making changes to fix the issues were seeing?

All i can say is that last night was the first night in a while that i didnt play this game for 2+ hours. I literally got so frustrated with CV gameplay after 20 minutes that I chose to logout and play another game.

CVs are being nerfed almost every patch, direct and indirectly.

The last patch for instance, buffed AA for all ships. I do think CVs needed to get balanced but it can be rather frustrating to play a CV now-a-days.

I enjoy playing them, but with the difficulty of the new event missions, like sinking 30 Cruisers with a tier V+. That's like..... Why would you do that to us CV players...

Sounds like destroyers too.  Most recent patch we finally got something noteworthy and positive, and it feels great.

Sucks that the two classes I enjoyed the most (DD & CV) seem to constantly get the shaft.

I'd certainly welcome a CV buff, but CV's are not as un-playable as everyone on the forum makes it out to be.

Nevermind the 30 destroyer's mission.  Then again the 'shoot down 150 planes' and 1,000,000 damage missions will be a cinch,

More on topic...it's...weird.  CV's are an odd class.  We can deal our damage with no fear of retaliation,  but we are also the only class that can literally run out of attack power.  Even a BB with 100 hitpoints and no repair can still blow a target out of the water.  We are also the easiest class to dodge,  and the only class that really has to make a choice between AA and AS.  It's also laughably easy to shut down our assault with a little planning and a halfway decent AA bubble.  You can see our planes coming from a mile away,  and any captain worth his salt is going to start turning the second he realizes he's your target.

Not really sure what I'd do about it.  Right now I can make runs on dedicated singular AA ships with very few if any losses to planes,  and higher tier ones like the North Carolina with acceptable losses.  When I REACH tier VIII I will suffer even fewer losses from an attack run on an NC.  But on the flip side,  as a USN CV pilot,  it would take me several runs to be able to kill said target.  Would you beef up torp speed and spread,  but increase AA?  Leave it where it's at but increase/decrease AA range or torp acquisition?  I am only rank VII right now so I can't speak for the higher tiers,  someone else with more experience will have to ring in with idea's.

I think AP bombs.are a good start,  and increasing the accuracy of bombs in general would help.  It's frustrating to have a target manual'd with literally NO area outside of your targeting circle,  and then seeing half of your six-bomb drop plop into the sea.

I wouldn't hold your breath on getting AA fixed anytime soon, We've been complaining since Early CB that the AA bubbles were too strong.. and this was pre-IJN carriers,

But they still just keep increasing it due to people not taking proper evasive measures and then complaining that they couldn't dodge

I'm already basically ready to quit, game is zero fun with cvs. Torpedoes, could they be any slower? Like what's the point even? Can't hit anything faster than a BB if they are paying attention. If you do get a juicy target, then your planes get shredded to AA. Just disable cvs, it's pointless in this form

I really wish i could offer something on how to make it better but im not sure. I think AA would be a good start. I think experience for shooting down enemy planes is another area to look at. I remember before this last patch having to be mindful of other ships AA and picking and choosing my battles so to speak but now.. forget it. AA chews through my planes so fast if I even look in the direction of an enemy ship 20 km away. Its horrible.

I do agree though, playing a CV right now is not fun. Its challenging in all the wrong ways and quite frankly its extremely frustrating. That is not why anyone in their right mind would play a video game. We play to be entertained and for the most part to have fun. CV's are neither. I dont claim to be a good player but i know im not the worst. Im an average player, so without that element of fun, there is no point in grinding my way through it. Let alone spending money. Which at the end of the day is WG's goal.

i quit playing about 2 weeks ago, before that i was playing my lexincton and almost grinded it to the essex. I remember i was still doing quite ok, exp and dmg wise, but the only reason for this was the total incompetence of some of the enemy players(i mean just TOTAL incompetence). In a clanwar-like-environment where everybody knows at least a bit what he is doing, i see cvs role limited to spotting, and maybe some lategame damge. As mentioned in an other thread, i think range reduction of AA and compensating with an aa firepower increase might change things to the better. Anyhow, i really feel 5km aa range is enough! fully upgraded us cruisers have an aa range of 7 km, and can panick your planes in the entire radius, if i encountered one of these ships i just felt trolled,..

I would say CVs were a lot more capable earlier in the game's history. We could be countered effectively with AA cover but a YOLOing BB was pretty much a dead ship floating (as iChase's video showed pretty well).
