Let me start off by saying I have no interest in this collaboration and I am not participating so I'm not [edited]about the difficulty, reward or that free exp fiasco.

However, I am concerned about this "collaboration". The recent events and changes to the game where WG shift rewards towards "kill count" is alarming.

I have seem so many kill stealing and resulting team killing or argument breaking out it really makes you wonder what was going through people's mind when they thought of this up.

For people that says I'm whining, QQing, complaining etc. Piss off, yes I am, I don't care about anime collaborations, I don't care about some anime ships I'm whining, QQing, complaining etc because this is not the way a healthy teamwork orientated game should be growing its community.

I couldn't care less about Arpeggio -- it's about the dumbest anime I've encountered in a long while (well, no, that's a lie... Asobi ni Iku yo! is worse), with battleships firing lasers and turning into submarines in the blink of an eye. But I have to agree with the OP: the missions are absolutely wretched, and further undermine the already-tentative (re: fragile, bordering on pitiful) team spirit that exists in random matches.

They should have used damage towards a certain class over kills in my opinion, but that's what forums are for these days: a soap box to whine and whine

Odd.

I've found some laughing and jokes been tossed around over the kills in game and such.  When two or three ships are firing at an enemy for a kill, 2 of the 3 are going to miss out, it's just the way it is.  There have been times in my Cruiser kills where I got lucky and the fire I started two shots before ended up getting the kill after someone hit said ship down to 80 HP or something...and other times where I've virtually deleted a ship with double cits only to have someone clean up the last 200 HP on my reload.... it's just the way it is.

I think this would be far worse if the missions were over in a week and not 3 months, it's not hard under regular gameplay circumstances to achieve these ships, if you so want them.   There is just a certain element of 'me first' mentality to the power grinders out there, who will stop at nothing to have it before anyone else, even though that gets them nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Get used to it, welcome to Wargaming games.  Kill missions have been around for years in World of Tanks and WG has shown no intention of letting up on them in Warships either.

I agree that damage is a better goal.

I do not care a whit about little girls cartoons and cartoonish ships. I strive for more accurate and historical looking camo, but as long as we can turn these off, as I understand it, it will be OK. Let children be children. At least the missions to get ARP offer decent rewards before the [edited]ships which I will ignore.

I thought you cannot sell them, thus no port slots.

For many people, including myself, past experience with similar missions in WoT. Not saying it'll end up being as bad here, but the old saying "once burned, twice shy".

Correct, they only count as a ship in the arpeggio port and don't require one of your free spots, and you can not sell them

but going to the main post, honestly I've only run into one or two occasions where I could tell people were holding fire for a last hit, and their final score in the battle reflected on it.

You can sell the normal versions of the ship, hence freeing up port slots.

Fog Kongo has replaced normal Kongo. Only downside is I no longer have a 15 pt captain in my Kongo. Upside is I have an extra free port slot. And tomorrow, I'll have Myoko, which I've been meaning to repurchase for forever.

Don't like the skin? Copy paste and rename a few texture files.  No more skin. Not sure about the flow, might be a separate file for those....

xMVUunx.jpgconfirmed they do not. I was also very disappointed to see in the description the lack of a credits bonus. Oh well this Redundant XP farmer is going to still be fun to sail

How do you steal kills in this game anyway?

BBs have to kill ships as fast as possible in their own best interest, lest they get overwhelmed by HE spam, so holding off shots to kill steal is bad for their health. Besides, if a BB uses its AP correctly, it doesn't need to steal a kill when it can just delete a cruiser with one or two salvo. Sitting far away from the action to snipe at low HP stuff doesn't work too well because of low ROF and accuracy. They get less kills playing this way than they would by playing properly.

DDs could technically kill steal by hovering just outside detection range and only firing their guns when the enemy is almost dead. But this is already Standard Operating Procedure for any stealth DDs, ARP missions or not. These DDs will still be in the front line, screening the fleet and spamming torps as usual, thus still working for the team.

CAs/Gunboat DDs rely on spamming shells and focusing fire as much as possible. So as long as they're doing that, they're actually helping the team. If they hold fire to wait until enemy is nearly dead they can easily miss out on the kill. If they focus fire on a weak ship that's further away than other closer enemies, that is also helping the team because they're making sure the enemy doesn't escape and keep fighting.

CVs are probably the only class that can kill steal. Wait for a CA/DD to be low health before making a bombing run; this is what I've seen occasionally so far, in which they would even ignore easier targets such as lone unprotected BBs just to go after CAs/DDs. However, this isn't easy to do either, because CAs have Defensive Fire while DDs are hard to hit. And if they miss, it's a long time before they can rearm and look for another opportunity to kill steal. Shells still travel faster than torps, while bombs aren't always reliable enough to steal a kill. It won't be long before those who try to kill steal in CVs realize their DPM have taken a huge dip while trying to steal kills and that it'd be easier to get kills by playing normally.

I reckon people only feel like there's a lot of kill stealing going on because they're so focused on wanting the kills themselves. Otherwise, they normally wouldn't mind if an ally helped finish off an enemy ship. Is it bad that the kill missions are actually encouraging people to focus fire?

My advice to everyone: just play normally. The mission deadline is very far away and the kills will come naturally.

You feeling lonely over the holidays and needed some attention so you posted this?

I have seen no difference in game play overall due to this contest.

I have no burning desire for the ship but getting a premium Kongo is pretty cool so if I get it great, if not great also but find something else to cry about.

It isn't just these missions it's some of the people playing the game. I was in a tier 3 match in my Emden and had a player raging at me for kill stealing his BB kill. These stupid kill missions bring out the worst in those who normally wouldn't care. I like the idea of 500,000 damage to cruisers instead of killing 30. This would promote better team-work and keep the yoloing to a minimum.

He couldn't even do the missions in such a low tier ship, so yea, its part of thee playerbase that doesnt understand that kills usually arent much in this game

People hold their shots until they are semi sure they can land the killing blow

Your name written on a ship pal? No? Then there is no such thing as kill stealing. If you can't get the job done, that's your problem,  not the other guy.  Has someone else nailed a kill I was working on. Plenty of times. Am I going to cry, whine and stamp my feet like a 3 year old?

Nope I'm gonna a shift to the next target because here's the thing. A ship with 10 HP is just as dangerous as a ship with full HP. Get the job done or I'll do it for you so that ship can't sink you, me or anyone else.

I'm sorry did you not read the first sentence of this post? I said I am not participating in this event, so how do I cry about kill steal when I'm not even doing it. I am quite sure I made that very clear.

Just to reiterate, I talked about how shifting rewards towards kills instead of teamwork and combined effort is not a positive way to grow your community.

I hope you actually read properly next time
