Gratz, and welcome to the Shima commanders' table :)

One good thing is that you don't need to get any ship upgrades, as it is pretty much complete at the base model.  Just the modules are needed (and yes, very expensive).

I will say you probably want to be careful which Captain you put in the ship.  I've found I don't use my Shima much due to costs and the lack of T10 games, so you may want to save your more experienced Captain if you have one that can handle top-tier play that you can use instead.  That, or have a Premium you can switch the Shima Captain to when you aren't playing T10.

Myself, I went and re-purchased a Fubuki to fill the gaps for high-tier play when I can't get a Shima battle in, so that might be a goal you can consider (assuming you don't have one and have the space for it) if you like high-tier IJN DD gameplay but want options to get into more-populated games.

Congrats! I can't wait to get mine.
Did you upgrade gun control on your Kagero?

More importantly, you're keeping Kagero, right?

Once I average out my first 10 games in this thing, I think it will be my best ship stats-wise so far. Didn't think it would be the same with just two sets of tubes again despite all my preaching about how you only need two but the 4 spread is really nice at this tier especially with all the ships going full engines almost all the time and the wider turn radii.

Can't wait to have a fast ship again... with 5x3!!!

Congrats you will have fun in her.

One word of caution though, make as many credits as you can prior to starting with her as it is very costly running her if you have a bad game. Those modules though very costly up front do help you tremendously in game especially concealment.

ill probably just start a new captain for the fubu.  I want the shima to have the best one I can put in it.  Ive got a murmansk so credits not to concerned with.  I may rebuy a few of the mid tier ijn dd just to see how they fare now that im much more experienced in them and also with the torp changes.

I did yes on my kagero, having that extra bit of range occasionally came in handy.

I sold it, but I may rebuy it at a future date.

Ive got tons of other lower tier ships im working through (mid tier USN BB, mid tier russian dds and mid tier ijn BB as well) all of those make a profit if i dont potato.

Congrats on the unlock; was nice to run into you last evening.  Good luck on the credit grind. =)

I've got a bit longer to be in Kagero... been enjoying my Fletcher too much lately to spend much time in it.

Yeah was glad to see a familiar face on my side of the line for once.

I really want to start USN dd at some point.  I wasnt shocked we ended up #1/2 in that match.  I made a poor turn and got one volly citadeled by an omaha at the end of the game or I would have beaten ya I say!

That was my best Isokaze game in a long time, just shy of 100k. =)  I don't play low-level DD much anymore, but Isokaze seems perfect to finish of this mission of "blow up ships in IJN DD of Tier IV or higher".

Congrats! I'm 10000 away from Shima, very jealous!! Probably have to play 20 games in Tirpitz to grind out the credits to buy it. *sigh*

My Kagero stats are only average, so my hats off to you. I can never string together a set of good games, typical example was only two Kagero battles I played on tuesday -- first one was 3 BBs killed, 10 hits, total 140K damage. Second was "You have not proved yourself in this battle"....

That it is!  Though, the repair and rearm costs are just as big an increase, so make sure you have some credits on hand when you take her out.  You'll probably return with less than you left with, especially if there are two T10 carriers on the other team.

Hope you enjoy the new ship!

Shima has a bit of a learning curve it feels like.  Im not quite comfortable with it yet.  Im still above server average damage, but im still trying to figure out the best way to utilize it in a match.

The torps seem to spread out much quicker than on the kagero even on narrow spread, this has lead to some frustrating dodges even when launched what I consider fairly close range <10km.

WR has been all over the place as I had one bad day and the low number of matches basically tanked it haha.

I think I need to play many more games in it to truely be comfortable and find a style with it that fits the boat.

I will say though I LOVE how fast it is and its agility.  Its much more nimble than the kagero and also accelerates either forward or reverse very very quickly.  From a handling standpoint its leagues above the kagero.

I do find myself missing that 5.4km detection range though.  The torp reload is also a bit of a bear.  I honestly think it could be reasonably cut by 10-20seconds.

Ill try and put a shima video together at some point.

Had the Shimmy research for a long time but couldn't afford it.  Finally bought it last night and had a good start with like 4-5 wins in a row.  I do miss that 5.4 ninja detection range of the Kagero though.

One thing you should know before buying:  That .5 rounds per minute on the stock torps is incorrect.  It is .4 rpm, same as the upgraded torps.  I had a bit of disappointment in my 1st battle, thinking I would get the same reload as the Kagero.

It's the nature of the beast. She's even more temperamental than Fubuki when you make a mistake. She actually doesn't really feel that much faster than Fubuki or Kagero and the Gearing actually can keep up if you decide to return fire. She's faster, better armed, and better armored but at this tier, so is everyone else at this tier. Even with 5x3 you really have to work for those hits if you're trying to single someone out. You think she would play like a T10 Minekaze but you end up having to play like you did with Mutsuki. At this tier everyone is afraid of you so you're always lit up the second they see you. There's almost never a time when there's not an enemy plane up in the air. If you're detected for a second, everyone is looking for torpedoes at the very least. The extra concealment from captain and module is only useful as a safety buffer because even if you do successfully launch at 5.9km, that's plenty off time for a Yamato to evade if you are even seen for a half second. At that distance that you're dead before you can reach speed. They know all the spots on the map you're likely to be so chances are the second they see someone start capping, they're "spawn camping" waiting for the other DD to spot you.

The game I played just before the one you were sailing Magami in was pretty much that. I capped A. There was a Gearing there so instant bye bye to half of my HP but I thought I could contest it anyway so I in the corner waiting for it to come around. Could not see through the smoke so I didn't know he was in the middle already and I was so focused on waiting for him to come around the island that I didn't notice the mini-map and all my cover fire abandoned me. I ate a torpedo and the Gearing got First Blood.

Shimakaze actually takes the most patience to play out of all the DDs because she can do a lot of damage and everyone is afraid of it but you have to respect everyone else because they can do a whole lot of damage too. Especially when you're in a lower tier match, since you're the big scary Shimakaze, they will always focus on you rather than the Fubuki or Kagero. You have too many enemies who have it out for you specifically to ignore your ship's limitations.

I like it but she will be very expensive to run if you don't bring your A game with you when you sail.
