Need some help enabling replays

I was trying to enable replays by following the instructions on Jingles' "How to enable Battle Replays" video. I followed the instructions to the letter, but when I added the extra lines of text needed to enable replays, the line of text entitled </scriptsPreferences> appeared in significantly smaller font than what Jingles' video showed it to be like if everything worked properly. As well, when I was trying to save my work, I got the following message:

C:\Games\World_of_Warships\preferences.xml

This file contains characters in Unicode format which will be lost if you save this file as an ANSI encoded text file.To keep the Unicode information, click Cancel below and then select one of the Unicode options from the Encoding drop down list. Continue?

I was then given the option to press "OK" or "Cancel". When I pressed "Cancel", I was led to the "save" option. I did not press "OK". I want to know if this means that something is wrong or if everything will still work properly. Thanks in advance for any answers I may receive.

P.S. Before you ask, yes I did make a copy of the original unaltered preferences file.

I can't get replays to work on the latest update either,  they worked fine previously when using the preferences edit.

did you by any chance edit the file while the game was running??

use a proper xml editor or text editor like notepad++, I use it for all my modding needs if xml files are involved. I haven't used it for this game yet (just recently started, this is the first time I even heard of replays, have to look into that) but I use it heavy for my TS2016 edits and never have a problem. Don't use the standard notepad that comes with windown, it is only good to write a shopping list

FYI,  I used both NoteTab and Notepad  to edit the files and it still doesn't work.   I used the Windows resident Notepad to edit the file in the previous update and it worked fine.

The line of text that you enter in the prefrences.xml file must be quite exact.  I had to look at them acrefully and spotted that a capital letter in the wrong place is all it took to prevent replays.  Here's the text that worked for me.

<isReplayEnabled>    true    </isReplayEnabled>
        <ReplayCameraUpdate>    30    </ReplayCameraUpdate>

Read the other posts because they give some great info.  Search the forums too.

TheDutchSeaWolf is right use Notepad++ . Notepad will not do the editing.

While I'd recommend using Notepad++ or another similar program, saying the regular Notepad won't do the editing is entirely wrong.  You may be more prone to making simple mistakes in it, but it works 100% fine.
