what's the shell hang time for mogami firing at 18km using advanced fire training? i am thinking anything less than 12.5 sec is acceptable, otherwise i wouldnt even bother learning AFT.

range is always better than not having range....

But it depends on whether you want to use the 155's or the 203"s... more people like the punch rather than the distance

I am debating the same issue.

Recently got Mogami. As I have Atago and Pensacola, I have 203mm already (I have Furutaka too). I like their power and punch, but I also like the sheer shell-DD-killing-power of Atlanta so I am keeping, and enjoying Mogami's 155s for now as it does the same but better.

it makes sense in theory but not so much in reality. in my cleveland ahving those extra 3km range makes me want to hang back and snipe, and the shell hang time is so much longer that my accuracy is much lower, so I end up doing much less damage .

IJN shells have higher velocities and flatter shell trajectories than the USN ships, so less hang time from what I've read.

What the captain skill does for the 155mm Mogami is give you more options. More range is always better than less, and at tier 8 sometimes you'll want to hang back. at that point where a Yamato or Montana can 1-shot kill a cruiser sometimes hanging back to give yourself the most amount of time to evade shots may be the difference between life and instant death. With the right setup 155mm Mogami can also fire from stealth whereas the 203mm Mogami afaik cannot.

You're looking at around 13 sec.   Max range is only for burning BBs really, impossible to hit a DD or a CA that knows how to steer.

i like to use the 155's the reload is about half of the 203s for only about 20% more damage on the 203mm so to me it is a no brainer but for the special i think you need to ask yourself, am i planning on taking the captain to the ibuki with me and selling the mogami, in which case it is a waist of 4 capt points as the 20% range wont count on the ibuki or zao only the AA. so better to use fire starter in my opinion.

It's not a very long hang time. it's right about 12-14 seconds, nothing like the Cleveland.
