Proposed Tier 8 Premium Russian DD: Верный/Veriny

Just make it exactly like the tier 8 IJN DD Fubuki with improvements here and there to represent the improvements in the Fubuki design inherent to the four-ship Akatsuki class.

 

Should have a higher top speed and better rudder shift, somewhat better guns, and perhaps a better torpedo reload at the cost of shorter range. Maybe give it the 8km torpedoes off Gremyachschy. That way it matches the relationship Murmansk has with Omaha.

 

In history, IJN destroyer Hibiki was given to the Soviet Union post-war and renamed Верный, pronounced "Veriny". The second of the Akatsuki class though the third that was actually finished construction (Lay-down order was Akatsuki, Hibiki, Ikazuchi, Inazuma. Completion order was Ikazuchi, Akatsuki, Hibiki, Inazuma. A bit interesting that they're still called the Akatsuki class, in that case)

 

In history, Hibiki's guns were the last guns fired by Japan before the surrender was signed. She is also the only Akatsuki class ship that survived the war, and has a history of taking damage but surviving-- and missing catastrophic engagements due to being in repair. This earned her the nickname "Phoenix".

Except a Fletcher can't even beat a Kiev in a gun duel. (Haven't checked since update though... Used to be that way.)

Previous Kiev captain here, -3,000 HP nerf is way worse than it sounds.  One solid cruiser salvo from anything you'll see will wipe the majority of your health, and with something spotted at 9.0km & about the size of a CL, she doesn't have much going for her.

 

Her 130mms had their HE nerfed too, so while they're still potent they're not nearly as great as they used to be.  I'd harbour on a Fletcher in most situations against a Kiev.

Well the fletcher is a tier 9 vs a tier 7, it should win in most situations. The kiev is still plenty strong for its tier.

130mms too strong makes it less likely for Verniy to be a premium.  Now that 130mm is now nerfed, this actually brings us closer for Verniy to be in the game as a premium, as premiums can't be too good.  

 

So all in all, the Verniy will be like a Fubuki with better guns but worst torpedos but won't (shouldn't) surpass the Fubuki.

Verniy would be like Fubuki with a tradeoff between guns and torpedoes firepower, and maybe slightly better AA.

p.s. they promised a tier 8 premium dd to the end of january, but i strongly doubt it will be hibiki

I like to see Veriny but WG has little to gain in terms of data collection for trying new weapons and ship designs.  As mentioned before, premiums can be harbingers for new tree lines, the premiums themselves are like test ships.  Given this, a new destroyer premium can also be a prelude to the next destroyer line.  Maybe something related to:
