I've got no explanation for how this Hatsuharu survived.

Each torpedo on the Błyskawica does 14,400 maximum - even if the damage was cut in 1/2 and he only got hit by one torpedo he still should of been toast.  But he got hit by two 14,400 damage torpedoes, with 4,699 remaining health - and still walked away from it alive.

Please help me understand how he got away! :fishpalm:

Each section of a ship has its own HP pool attached to the main HP pool. Hit a single section enough to deplete all of the section's HP and any further hits will guarantee do 0 dmg on it.

You most likely hit 2 torpedoes in the same section/spot, depleting it to 0 on the 2nd hit (but without enough section HP to finish off the DD)

So basically the first torpedo hit the fore of the Hatsuharu, reduced the fore's HP to zero so when the second torpedo hit it hit an already "dead" part of the ship?

Strange mechanic, but I see what happened now.

Yes

Depleting a section's HP to zero is about equal to blowing that ship part off (e.x. blowing the bow off a ship, it can still float... but just barely. See: USS New Orleans) So it sort of makes sense that hits on that spot won't count to overall HP decrease.

Now I've known this was the case for the most part but what happens when lets say the bow hits 0 health, does it stop receiving damage from torpedoes or do they just do the minimal roll?

I don't think I've ever seen a torpedo do 0 damage

IF the HP is depleted to nothing, it does 0 dmg.

Minimal roll only occurs if the sector HP has gone below half but still above 0.
