In that WoT was developed a few years before WoWS - As an aside i actually received an email invite years ago to join in beta testing with wargaming.net, but it wound up in the electronic circular file bin (too busy and not much gaming in those days, but gamed with another who shall go unamed).  Fast forward to 2016 - *HAPPY NEW YEAR!*  - And I find more from WoT are coming over to WoWS.

Now, I loaded WoT last Fall, and found the game quite interesting in that it offers more in terms of weapons delivery systems, graphics, maps/terrain, and especially in the formation of clans(?) or teams.  But didn't find it to my own personal gaming appeal.

The question begs, and this is not some troll but an innocuous inquiry, nor do I want to initiate some adolescent flame war between the two or any other, but how, in terms of the wargaming.net "vets" who happen upon this, does it faire or compare between the two?  Criteria; challenge/complexity, game play experience, etc.  Again.  I just want to know, and this is not a swipe at anyone, or group who prefer WoT, WoWS, WoWP, or any other wargaming.net platform or app; since I have the privilege to recommend to others ... being a military veteran, of course.

TIA

This game moves a lot slower. With that said though, there is no camping. If you are sitting still you are soon to be dead here. It's more maneuvering and using the Rock, Paper, Scissors of BB>CA/CL>DD and DD>BB

Like watching an American football scrimmage.  Great feedback!

I can't speak for anyone else, but i've played both WoT and WoWS extensively.

I prefer WoWS to the complete exclusion of WoT.

- It's less twitchy.

- It's more fun.

- It's more reliant on team action than individual supremacy - even when individuals do well, it's because they have others helping them directly or indirectly.

- Naval games are my thing.  Tanks are fun and all, but boats float my boat.. er.. uh.  I like boats.

- The game flow is more deliberate and has greater consequence to your action.  If you are going forward at full speed, you can't just decide to stop.  You can't hide behind a rock or a tree or a house because there is always one nearby.  Yes, islands are a thing, but they aren't always available, and can be as much a hindrance as a help sometimes.  If you end up in the wrong position, it takes some fancy sailing and good luck to get out of it.

- It rewards anticipation. Torpedoes 90 seconds out must be lead.  Sure, there is a lead indicator, but that's only if they don't change course.  Can you guess where they're going to be a minute from now?  Even shells taking 15 seconds to travel reward good lead prediction.  What was considered to be "no skill" artillery in WoT is highly regarded in WoWs because of 2D planar prediction.

- It has more variety to the roles.  WoTs heavy/medium/light mechanic was something, but in the end you find a spot you can pen and you shoot it for damage.  In WoWS you need to consider where your particular vessel is needed to get the best result for your team.  How can i get a shot on "that ship" over there.  It might take me 2-3 minutes to setup a stealth torpedo run.  That doesn't happen in WoT - everything is so close ranged you shoot whatever you see.  Do i need to screen this ship for aircraft?  Do i need to kill the cruiser or battleship first?  Which one is hurting me more?  Which one can i finish off faster?  Which one will i regret not killing?  Where do i send my planes?  Who do i attack?  The first ship i see or a strategic ship?  How can i avoid enemy air partols and AA?  What happens now that i'm running out of planes?

- Tanks is fun, but it doesn't have the tactical depth that WoWS has, and that's only in pubs and ranked that we can see thus far. Team/Clan/Organized whatever action will be a whole different thing.

Many thanks for the feedback, and Happy New Year !  I have a couple of miscreant friends on WoT, and who've gone to WoWS, and they are split between the two (go figger that one out), and to be honest, I'm particular to WoT (haven't gamed as much ... but my yung'uns do) as it does offer more in the graphical experience, and of course in/of the 'snipe' factor - Call of Duty warfare, etc.  ... but that's just me.  I rang the bell 'yars 'go ... but, as long as they finish college, and/or become commissioned, I'm good with that.  For that is the ultimate and distinguished "clan," no?
