Carriers make me want to quit. (yes, this is a rant, because carriers ruin fun for skilled players.)

They ruin game for skilled players who bust their [edited]trying to carry a game.

And then, I'm dueling a kongo with my konigsberg and I've got 500 hit points, he's got 500 hit points and a tier 6 CV drops a load of explsoive bombs all over me. I just need to hit him with ONE salvo and he's 99.9999% chance going to die. It's extreme range for me, AP dropping down on him for a dozen 1-5k salvos over and over....and nope. CV ruins another FUN game by letting the player controlling it have zero actual skill required to get points or influence a battle. Zero. A carrier can influence a battle and all it has to do is fly some planes NEAR you.

500 damage away from a Kraken and more than 2500 base xp.

That was fun.

Not like I could see that CV the entire game, sitting in the back of the map.

Nope, just flies over his planes, no risk to him (especially not against a Konigsberg's AA,) and...that's it. I doub't it'd live even if i was an a Cleveland, since he could just send more then one squadron to finish me off.

So thanks Wargaming, I'm on the verge of quitting your game and NEVER, EVER telling anyone else to play it - or you could do the smart thing, and let us have at least the option to play games without carriers. I don't have a carrier in my dock, and I never will. I played a Langley twice. It sucked. It wasn't World of Warships, it is Warcraft. A teensy bit of micro with one hand while I masturbated with my other because CV's have a skill level lower than beating a dead horse with a stick.

So here's my new years resolution. Whenever  I que up in a game with carriers, I'm going to do what carriers do, and do nothing in a corner while I use my mouse and click randomly over my screen; and read a porn mag or something with my other hand.

I hate to break it to you, but CVs have been nerfed to holy hell and aren't remotely close to game breaking anymore.

So why didn't you get more damage in the salvos you did get off?  Ask yourself how you can make the most of your existence in battle before complain about anything being OP.  For instance, why didn't you land an additional citadel hit or normal penetration?  At max range there is a decent amount of RNG involved with spread, yes, but the part of the ship that you are hitting is important.  And minute adjustments in your leading still influence what part of the ship you hit; aim a little further away from where they are at the point your shells hit and you strike the superstructure, aim at where they are and you can penetrate the deck and land citadel hits.

AA carriers make my life in carrier absolutely painful because I can't hit anything with fighters crawling all over my [edited] between the slowdown and ship AA.  And those require even less skill than a strike carrier where good drops are required to cause any sort of serious damage.  That doesn't mean AA carriers are OP, just that they require a workaround.

I think you have a serious skewed view of how CVs work...

First of all, there are those noob players who like to sit in the corner and think that they're gonna be safe the rest of the game doing that. Ya think ur gonna be safe in a CV in a corner just launching planes? Think again

Second, I doubt you played CVs enough to know how hard it is to work your torp spreads in. That takes skill, not luck. And I think you're playing the wrong line of CVs to think that it's super easy to just sit back & "masturbate" with one hand and the other on your mouse.

Third,

I hate to break it to you, but CVs have been nerfed to holy hell and aren't remotely close to game breaking anymore.

So... what are you complaining about again?

Yes I also hate CVs but I recognise its not a matter of RNG to make the tight 1.5Km drops

Dang OP, you sure have a hang up on masturbation don't you?

As for your topic I disagree. I play mainly BBs and CLs/CAs and I sorely miss having CVs around, a match without CVs for me is a boring one.

And I certainly don't think CVs ruin the game for skilled players. A skilled player wouldn't hop on the forums and rage about something, he'd adapt and learn or at the very least continue forward realizing that sometimes you win some and you lose some.

Dont sail in straight lines.

The accuracy of dive bombers is presented as a green oval that the CV player has to adjust correctly to get the most of your ship in the oval; it is not click and forget. What you need to do is turn to port and/or starboard to throw of their accuracy, because the green oval does not rotate in sync with your movements. If you do this right, it will not be uncommon for the bombs to not score a single hit.

Also, hold ctrl and click on the incoming squadrons to target them and provide a slight boost to your AA

Same things goes to torpedo bombers, but with a long rectangle instead of an oval. Use the same approach; hard to port and/or starboard.

If you are in a CL, then this should not be that difficult at all.
