... and play these exclusively, but I'm workin' on technique and skills.  The biggest challenge, as far as I am concerned with are DDs (destroyers), especially the higher tiered/mod ones. I know I should spread out the play with CCs and DDs, but I find gamin' with the BBs in WoWS the real challenge.  Anyhow, any tips, or suggestions in dealing with these far swifter and deadlier boats would be appreciated ...  TIA

Your comment here is about useless.

High tier bbs (especially now with torpedo buffs and turn nerfs) take a bit more planning in advance to play well. Play the class you enjoy, and branch out when you get stuck in longer grinds.

As for tips against dds, turn as much as you can, and change your speed a lot. Pointing your bow where they are will also help you avoid most of their torps.

Don't consistently drive in a straight line, especially if another destroyer is around. Alter your course and speed to throw off their aim. Use HE against DD's for the most part but if you can't switch fast enough, firing a couple salvos of AP is ok. Also I find that going off on your own usually results in death so try to stick with at least 1 or 2 other people.

What I like to do if I cant find a DD who is torping me is I launch my aircraft. I don't find it often that a DD turns their AA off and with their crappy AA it gives me a good 2-3 extra minutes of being able to see them on and off

also welcome to club BB.

Facing DDs remember to change speed and course every 10 seconds or so.

If they are visible turn away and run, while using your guns to slow them

1, Before you get used to it, try to not face DDs alone.  Get help from other ships especially cruisers.

2, keep change your course and speed (you should be doing that to angle your ship anyway).

3, Be patient and do not shoot your guns off cool down.  Try to wait DDs to turn and then shoot in the direction they are turning into.  If they come straight to you, try to shoot just one gun to bait them.

If you know your ship well, USN BBs are well balanced to IJN ones between T6~8, but they have more trouble against DDs before T8 because of speed.

Anyhow, any tips, or suggestions in dealing with these far swifter and deadlier boats would be appreciated ...

You need a CA buddy.

Seriously. I play CA and BB.  As a BB driver, I always hope a CA will hook up.  As a CA driver, I look for a CV or BB that needs an escort.  Nothing is juicier to a DD pilot than an unescorted BB.  Either launch torps outside detection range forever and a day.  Or sneak up when your attention is somewhere else and deal a devastating strike up close.

A good CA escort can keep those pesky DDs at arms length.  Or, at a minimum, see any long range torps in plenty of time for the BB pilot to take appropriate evasion.  That said, you should never travel in a straight line.  Always change direction.  This is important for both torp avoidance as well as thwarting an enemy from lining up a perfect shot.

When I'm caught alone against a DD determined to put a torp on me, I pretty much run run run...with a little bit of zig and zag.   And hope to get a good lead with my main battery and put some damage on him.  I fire at an even tempo depending on number of batteries I have on the run.  Don't give the DD pilot a long time to plan the attack between shots.  And if he gets in secondary range, they can help too.  The run away tactic will give the secondaries more chances.  It will also give more time for friendlies to help.

But again, a CA escort is what you need.

And yet some find things like cruiser easy or CV easy. honestly yes "most" find BB "easy", but if some one comes and says they find it challenging, why jump on them and come off rude?

OP, learn to live by your right mouse button, also learn to angle your ship. Low tier USN BB don't have to as much but IJN and High tier USN ships live by their front guns.

If a Minekaze pops up within visual detection and no one else from your team is in front of you, you should turn because it's already launched torps at you.

Also don't strike out alone. Lone BBs without DD/CL/CA screen or protection is like giving DDs a free steak dinner.

Even pairing up with another DD is enough to deter a USN DD from doing a YOLO torp run on you.

LOL!  Your potty-mouthed rants in co-op chat don't make it any easier, either.
