Still dying to flood/fire after damage control?

So, I've experienced this a few times but I mostly just chalked it up to lag or latency, but now I'm not so sure.

I was just playing in my Nikolai (another goddamn tier 6 match,) and I was on fire, and a torp just hit me leaving me at about 200 health. I pressed my damage control party (and Repair Party) buttons, and about one second later, died. I know both of them went off, because the numbers popped up in the ability boxes.

But, then I burned/flooded to death a second later anyway. It wasn't the Fuso shooting me either.

I think the damage will do one more tick as your crews "put it out" which would have killed you

It doesn't instant stop the damage while it's repairing.

In other words, nothing is wrong here.

It's always stopped the damage when I use DAMAGE CONTROL. NOT REPAIR PARTY itself. DAMAGE CONTROL, TO PUT OUT FIRES AND FLOODING.

you probably stopped it as it ticked a damage amount off, if you stop between it ticks one more.

see, that's just [edited]. repair ship.....control fires and flood...and a second later, still die.

yeah that's happened to me, too...  just one or two ticks away, repair comes up, speed-hitting R like mad, hear the sound, then BOOM!

The mechanics of it are that it takes time, one or two DOT damage ticks, for the repairs to happen or the fire to be put out.  Effectively if the fire damage ticks every 3 seconds hitting repair 1 second into that 3 second window means that you still take damage for another 2 to 5 seconds.  IE: to finish the tick you are in and it seems perhaps one more.  I can't prove that it's one more but thats how it seems when I am playing.  I have to guess its WG trying to add a tiny spec of realism of the time it takes the repair crew to get from Damage Control out to the far end of the ship to effectuate repairs or put out fires.

pressing the damage control does not INSTA-STOP fires and floods... there is a timer and it takes 2-3 seconds to fix the fires or floods... so, if you are on fires AND flooding and press the button, the damage ticker will prolly win out over those 3 seconds of repair and you die... it IS working as it should it is hard to understand but it is a time issue..,. flooding takes  quite a lot of HP away and if you are on fire too??? those 3 seconds will not always be enough...
