Newbies skipping tier 1 and 2?

I often check players on the stats page when they seem to be doing stupid things.  One thing I've noticed in the last few days is an alarming number of newbies skipping tier 1 and 2 ships entirely.  There a promo giving new players a bunch of free xp?   Whatever it is, it's a bad way to get new players acclimated to the game.  Having noobs in tier 5 boats after only 50 games played is not good.

Thanks UnseenSpectacle for pointing out the obvious for sleepy me.   I thought they were skipping tier 1 and 2, but had a brain fart and didn't factor in Coop.

Just let the thread die already.

Are they not even doing co-op missions? I know when I first started out, I really didn't want to play PvP with tier 1 & 2 boats because they all felt terrible.

That said, I have noticed an influx of people doing more stupid stuff more often at all levels of the game. However, I just chalked that up to the holidays getting back some casuals and some new player influx. My favorite face-palm moment from yesterday was an Omaha 5km from a DD and 10km from a BB. Guy fires only torps at the DD and then proceeds to turn around and attack the BB with AP... literally snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Now, it was my fault for not staying alive and leaving it to his oh-so-incapable hands.

Ahh yea, I'll chalk this up to it being 3am and I'm not thinking clearly.  Of course they probably played coop for tier 1 and 2.  I was just looking at their Random Battles and seeing a jump straight to tier 3.  I never look at Coop stats because they are meaningless...and just sort of assume that people would play some tier 1 and 2 in Random Battles.

If a player is new to the game, they're gonna be noob way past Tier 5, They're not gonna pick up the finer details of this game in the 100 battles it will take to get to T5. I mean hell, I have T8s in Tanks and I'm still bad at that game. I attribute that to my total lack of interest in tanks other than a game to play very casually.

I have barely hit 60 pvp games and I've ground my way up to T4. I'm fairly new but I wasn't "given" any ships. I just don't buy an [edited]ton of ships and spend all of my credits on [edited]. I have a total of 5 ships and I keep them for only as long as I need them to get to the next Tier, then I sell it and get the next one. I will probably reach 100 battles long before I make it to T5 so I don't know where you all are coming up with this stuff. Most of the better players I've seen were T5 and above. I guess you guys don't really see the dumb [edited]shenanigans that happen at T4 and T3 anymore.

Uggh, so many of you missing the point.  It's not about them being bad, it's not about how many games they have played.  I thought they were skipping tier 1 and 2, but had a brain fart and didn't factor in Coop.

Since you are relatively new to WoWs, plan to keep a tier 5-6 ship in your port that you like to play so you can reliably make money. The economy at tiers 8-10 non-premium is hard for players to maintain positive credit income. In fact, a few people have made the mistake of trading up to all tier 8-10 ships in their ports and then complain when they run out of money and can no longer repair them. As for dumb stuff at T3-4... I see it all the time. There are quite a few ships in those tiers I am fond of playing even though I have T6-8 ships available in many lines.
