I think the Mikasa needs a small buff

old post for any who is interested, back when i was, young and, stupid :playing:

As some of you know the Mikasa Tier 2 Battleship was given to those that sent in a Christmas ornament to the Wargaming studio in California.

But as many of us recipients have noticed it has a few really glaring flaws, ..really glaring flaws.

 

1. Its dispersion is high, now on a Kawachi with a 8 gun broadside this is not to bad to deal with, but the Mikasa has half that.

2. Its AP seems almost useless, cant seem to pen the flatside of a Chester from 6km away :amazed: lots of 770 under penetration hits.

3. And this one is not  big of a deal but the secondaryies are only have 3km range, but it combined with the two stated above can leave to a lot of aggravation.

 

Now here is my three suggestions to maybe correct some of these issues it has while still remaining balanced as much as possible. :great:

 

1. Decrease the main gun dispersion from its 142m to maybe 122m

2. I don't know what is going on with it :unsure:, but tweak the AP, i mean dont make it a easy button :red_button: but something is not quite right :amazed:.

3. And perhaps make the 152mm Secondaryies range from 3km to 4 or 5, that would be a nice buffer to help with the lack of main guns and slow reload.

 

i would would be willing to sacrifice a couple thousand ship HP for theses buffs to happen if need be, but o well im just here to point out what i think are some issues. Its a rare ship that only a couple dozen or so of us have, so I understand that the dev's have other higher priority's on other projects, but if Destroyer_Teruzuki's thread on the nagato's hull inaccuracies are any indication of things, I would hope to at least get the dev's attention. 

 

All and all i am just super happy that i even have the cute little ship in my dock, she looks right at home in the Philippines :honoring:

its fine, more then fine, a lumbering hulk of gun blazing destruction, a unicorn of epicness :B

They gave it out for free because they decided not to bother fixing it.

 

well i can hope right, i never even thought i would be able to get it this ship but here we are :aqua:

you need to change your red text....
THat will fix everything....

People that complain about a free ship (a free RARE SHIP at that) have a bit more issues than the ship IMO...
And the difference from 142 to 122 as far as dispersion goes would not be incredibly noticable, and I don't know what the gun size/caliber is but I find it difficult to believe your AP issue..not sure a BB cannot pen a chester's 
flatside?

It's threads like this why it took so long for there even be a Mikasa giveaway.

 

WG has said no, a lot of times. They already buffed it's secondaries.
There's a line between being underpowered and overpowered and that line is extremely thin at tier 2 for battleships.

Honestly I think is they just buffed her 80mm and 152mm secondary range to 4.5-5km and slightly reduced her main battery dispersion it would do wonders for her. 3km (or 3.6km with AFT) is simply too short for your secondaries to matter, only clueless noobs would go that close to you, and even still, a DD at those ranges pretty much means you're dead because he is about to torp/ram you. Anyone who knows what a Mikasa is will just stay above 3km range and pummel you with HE while you miss due to dispersion every 30 seconds, basically turning you into a damage farm. At the very least the 80mm and 152mm need a range buff to 4.5-5km, as pre-dreadnoughts relied on their secondary batteries just as much as their main battery. I still love my Mikasa though, It'd just be nice if she had actually useful secondaries that weren't just extra weight. The Mikasa BADLY needs tier 2 only MM, as St. Louis, South Carolinas, Kawachis all take big fat sh!ts on the Mikasa.

Equip Secondary Gun Mod. 1, get Expert and Advanced Firing Training, and fly Mike Yankee Soxisix, and the Mikasa becomes the greatest secondary gun duelist this side of the Yamato. Forget the main guns, that thing's secondaries are where it's at.

agree with you their 3.6 is too short, and why is there so many dds in low tiers :amazed: really easy to farm kills i guess.

but IKU19 does have a point, buffing this thing would be tricky, but if it did get all the buffs i listed i would trade quite a few thousand HP to balance it out, but who knows :aqua:

Funny because it would be pretty darn easy to fix this ship.

Alter the main gun dispersion value, alter the max range of the secondary battery value, alter the rudder shift.

 

On to this I'd also add 4 upgrade slots (like tier 5 ships) which would allow her to get level 2 modifications. Vital ones being Steering level 2 and secondary mod 2.

 

This thread should be posted in EU though. At least there it has some chance of being noticed. NA being the lowest in terms of pecking order when it comes to affecting the game

well i iv come to a personal conclusion, that after almost 150 battles, the mikasa is fine as it is :)

 

 

 

 

 

if the AP was fixed that would be nice though :hiding:
