Former Marine, but love the ships of the Navy.  We need 'em to get the Marines where they need to go!  :teethhappy:

Welcome gjflanker!

instead of using "url link" for your sig.  Use link an image. And you dont need to test it. It should retroactively apply to all previous posts.

Yo Marine, you can have one gun on any ship I have, but that's all and its just to keep you occupied underway. Tehe

Have you ever heard of Cmdr John D Bulkeley USN. ( MOH Winner PT Boat SQN 3 Former Commander of Gitmo). He is the Guy that ordered that big ole Globe and Anchor painted on the Concrete by the gate. You know what the Commander of the base Marines at the time once said about him. God only made one mistake." That Bulkeley joined the Navy, Cause he is clearly a Marine at Heart"

Welcome Devildawg. Uuraah. Good luck

Thanks Master Chief!  FYI, my first naval gaming experience took place on one of the mess decks of the USS New Jersey.  I was a 19 year old midshipman doing my first summer 'cruise'.  Stood watch with a bosun's mate and we got to talking WWII surface engagements which led to him inviting me to play a quick game that night reenacting the Bismarck's encounter with the Hood.  He had painted metal models, rules and dice.  Don't recall the name of the system he was using, but it was cool.

How do you get the image to show instead of the link?

I did get a chance to participate in the 5 inch secondary of the New Jersey that was crewed by the Marine detachment.  They put me in one of the spots and drilled me for 30 mins or so before the start of live fire. I remember being handed a powder bag and handing it off to another guy who put it behind the shell.   I think.  Been a long time.  They had an EGA painted on the side of the turret and took pride in firing more shells faster than any other 5 inch turret.

Never heard of Cmdr. Bulkeley, but I'll look him up.  Sounds like a righteous dude.
