Nope. Ryujo was purpose-designed, but a late change in the design requirements doubled the aircraft complement, necessitating a second hanger level. The result was the design seen here.

For sure, it just seems to me the Trains/Tanks/Planes/Ships built back them are so much more impressive looking compared to the modern look.

great pics.. the IJN always had the most interesting ships to look at .. they even had a carrier sub if i do remember correctly
