Don't get too close to a cornered CV

Okay so sometimes you play this game to see something totally unexpected. Normally when a CV is "caught", it get blown out of the water. Here's the scene, the map "Big Race", you probably know the area of that map when I say, "the Cove". Our CV was hiding behind the last ridge of said cove, basically at the edge of the map. Nowhere to run as two BB's come towards the corner. The lead BB then say's,  "AHA, you're DEAD". Now imagine that the distance from the peninsula, to the map edge is say 6 KM's, and his BB is closing, firing his guns. Also imagine a BB's slow firing rate, as the BB is closing for the kill. The CV, planes gone, like a caged animal turns on his tormenter. I mean really, he's gonna die anyways right? Why not take one down with him. Indeed, the BB captain didn't realize the quirky game mechanics, that ramming an enemy usually means instant death. The CV rams the BB.

Yeah, that was great to watch.

Too bad there isn't post-game chat.  The screaming from the BB captain probably would have been epic.

Would have been cool if he lived.... I have survived very few ramming hits, being the one who initiated the ram :look:

I think that's because the ramming mechanics mean you do full HP damage that you have to the enemy and vice versa. Meaning if you have no flags mounted that reduce ramming damage, unless you ram a dd or something, it is usually instant death.

I think that is how it works, correct me if I'm wrong.

I was in a match once on Hotspot (The old, criss-crossed one) where our Indy lost all his planes. Near the end of the match he somehow got into a stern chase with a fuso, who kept slinging HE At him instead of AP... he sloooowly got closer, with the FUso trying to turn and avoid the impact... then *dink*.  The Indy's bow barely tapped the Fuso's stern... and both exploded.  The last ship alive was our Omaha, on fire and at maybe 1/10 of his health.

The fuso was on a quarter or so health- he would've nailed the Omaha without breaking a sweat had the CV driver not been suicidal. The CV captain was directly responsible for averting a loss.

I got rammed in my NewMexico by a Fuso a week ago.  We were trading fire at point-blank range... I think our AA gunners were engaging each other... and the Fuso was getting the worst of it.  Low on health and in fire in a couple of places, he decided to go for the ram.  I was still around 50% health.

As he turned in I realized what he was up to.  I threw the helm hard to port trying to avoid him.

He sideswiped his bow off my stern.  Strangely, I took almost no damage, but the 'bad touch' was enough to finish off the Fuso and give me the Die Hard medal.  It was a gift!

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Ship.
