Graphics driver not responding

After 4 months and reinstalling video card drivers a LOT of times, I still have the same issue.  When I'm on the battle loading screen, the screen goes black, no cursor control, and the only way I've found to recover is to ctrl+alt+del, bring up task manager, close WoW and start it again.  When I do, I get the little window that says my graphics driver stopped responding but has recovered.

I'm running an AMD A10 7850K APU, 8G of DDR3 2100 memory and a Radeon R9 270 card with 2G of DDR5 memory.  It's hard to imagine that the battle loading screen would be too much for my setup.

This never happens on any other game, and once I get the game going, I'm running at 50-70 FPS and about 30-40 ping.

I've seen others posting pretty much the same story, why isn't this issue fixed after 4 months of people reporting it?

have you tried it with dual graphics disabled and run on dedicated card?

Yes, tried it both ways with the same result.

Well, tried to uninstall/reinstall, and had to run a 3rd party uninstall program to uninstall WoW.  When I ran the WoW uninstall, it went to the "gosh, why did you uninstall us?" web page, which froze up the uninstall process 4 times.  There appears to be some pretty serious coding [edited]with this game.

Thanks for the response, and a good thought, but I've got something like 800G free on my 1T main drive.

sorry i couldnt be of any help in my last post haha, I was honestly way way jealous and my urges got the best of me

but I just thought of it

sometimes  if you have steam overlay enabled, or any other "gaming" program, it can interfere with your world of warships

For example I had Raptor enabled to record my Warthunder gameplay

Warthunder kept crashing because of it

If you find any programs that inject a overlay / record /interfere with the gaming program, try turning it off

i only ever had issues with 'driver stopped responding' when something was overheating or i OCd too high. with all of the driver swapping, did you ever use a driver sweeper? sometimes going from an old to new driver can cause issues because the standard uninstall doesnt always clear out everything. the greater the difference in version number the greater probability of issues...only takes one dll left behind. there was also a recent AMD driver that caused lots of issues with some users, if you swap again use one that is a bit older.

im guessing its probably not a game issue, more likely overheating or a driver issue...but who knows.

Happened to me too recently (Nvidia GTX 680), I couldnt point where actually it went wrong. But it's not WoT related, as other games are also affected. Basically everytime I start any 3D-accelerated game, the driver just crashed. Rollback to earlier driver, same. Clean install windows (at one point, I just couldnt boot, stuck in bootloop), installed older driver. Still the same. Prior to crashing, I ran HWmonitor, it did not register any overheating aka normal operating temp. I am puzzled with this one.

ATM running on backup card (ATI HD 49XX).

No problema, when I boot up, I kill everything that isn't absolutely necessary, no steam, I uninstalled raptor.  I'm down to something like 54 processes running.

Here is a few tips I found that helped some others, try reducing the Anti-aliasing prorperties - x0,x2,x3,etc; disable 3D graphics, and cut back on some of the graphics from high to medium for example, and lastly reduce sounds quality.  I'm running a GeForce GTX-760/2 GB and I have a few of the graphics toned down and so far it works fine and is very stable. I have Anti-A set to x2 and still no issues.

Good luck and I'll see if I can find anything else that may help.

That's a good thought regarding temps, I'll check that.  I used a driver uninstall utility, a 3rd party uninstall and still had to go into the registry to get rid of the leftovers, because the AMD install manager wouldn't work, so wouldn't let me install a fix. Part of this problem seems to be the crap Radeon software, but the only app I have issues with is WoW.  One thing I know is that this is my first and last Radeon card, I'll be going back to Nvidia.

Thanks for the input, but the game freezes on the loading screen.  I have to shut it down, and restart it, then it works fine.  I run at high graphics, 50-70fps.  The ONLY time it freezes is when the battle loading screen is on.

Nothing wrong with AMD, never had a problem with their cards and cpu's.

Some seem to do better than others.  Switched to Nvidia three years ago and never looked back.

I'm having the same problem since a patch or two back, either it checks out on loading, loads to my fleet and then starts to wash out, like rain is hitting screen and then freezes up completely or in the last try it loaded to fleet and then became a slide show. I suspect theres a huge mem leak or my card crapped out. however it seems to do it on war thunder as well, so I'm wondering if its a drive issue since its about 45G til full.
