Just bought the Tirpitz as an early Christmas present, but my parents aren't letting me play it until X-mas eve. What do people have to say about this glorious ship?

Went out and bought a EVGA GTX 960 FTW edition 2GB. 

Can't use that monster until X-Mas eve.

Tirpitz is one of the luckiest BBs in the game,    I seem to have trouble finding her citadel sometimes with my Amagi.

Its got resilient cits but she's easy to get penetrating shots on. Pretty sure he citadels are impossible to hit inside 10km unless your a yamato...

I have been thoroughly unimpressed by the Tirpitz in combat -- I don't feel like I get citadel'd by them frequently, their Torpedoes are easy to predict, and I see them get penned by lesser BBs a LOT.

Just remember that Tirpitz has kinda crap deck armor for tier 8, so long range engagements will hurt quite a bit.  On the other hand, she has the best belt armor at tier 8 and the turtle back armor makes her extremely hard to citadel at mid-close range.  She fits perfectly into how I play, which is way too overly aggressive for my own good.  The guns will take a bit of getting used to due to their extremely high velocity though, as she's currently mounting the highest velocity guns in the game.

Its a great little Battleship at tier 8, though it isn't perfect, the torpedoes are highly situational, and the Anti-aircraft can be very lacking at times. 

but she is still a good Warship, even at its...rather high price.

If you are only playing 2 to 3 games a years or playing the same games over several years then it is worth it.  

 

All gamers are not A.D.D. gamers jumping from game to game to game in 5 seconds...

I love mine, but I hear the same things about said other battleships.  Nagato comes to mind.  Some people love it.  Others hate it.  You get great games where you hit all the citadels and others where you cannot but most of the time, its fun, and you enjoy the ship.  Same with Tirpitz.  The ship is an incredibly enjoyable ship to play.

Do you actually buy many "AAA titles" for that kind of money?  Because I don't anymore, thanks to declining quality and Steam sales.  I consider buying a ship that I'll play hundreds of battles in a better investment than spending that kind of money on a game that's going to be buggy on launch, gives me 6-15 hours of play time in single player, and then requires me to spend another $30-60 in DLC or Season Pass if I want to keep up with multiplayer.

Reminds me how CoD Black Ops III (or whatever CoD game is out on Steam now) had like...3 multiplayer maps for $50 or so.

 

This is in addition to the base game which is $60.

It's a great ship, you'll enjoy it.

 

- Great belt armor, good at brawling. Deck armor is meh, try not to get shot by plunging fire, you very well might get citadeled.

- Turret rotation is very fast, swinging them from side to side (180) is almost possible between reloads. Accuracy is not bad, and the penetration doesn't seem bad either, despite the fact that the shells are 15"

- Torpedoes are a blast (he-he). When I was buying the dertpitz I though it's just a gimmick, but they do make a huge difference. The range is reasonable (6km), so is the damage. The arcs are very wide, it's possible to launch torps from both sides at a target ahead without exposing the broadside too badly. You'll heavily punish anyone who dares to get into a close range fight with you, I've even blown up DDs that tried to rush me. The only bad thing about the torp mount, is it breaks very easily, so beware.

- The anti-air is meh, secondaries are alright. You also have an option of putting a fighter on the BB instead of a spotting plane (I always do that, since the spotting reticle really screws with my aim for some reason)

- Maneuverability is great -- it's fast, and turns pretty well.

 

All in all, the ship is very fun for any player that likes BBs, since it's a solid ship, and plus torpedoes make the gameplay unique. It makes a metric crapton of cash. And in addition to all that, at the moment it's probably the best BB for Ranked, since it's such a menace close-up.

Because there's only one KM Premium.

Because there's no proper KM Tier V or VI premium Cruiser.(forget a datamined T IV..)

Joking aside, Tirpitz is difficult to citadel, is the only BB to have torps, but has substandard AA, slow rudder shift, and it's guns are not very good at long range. Just like all WG premiums, there's a mix a good and bad features. It definitely looks cool though.

Rudder shift is average, not slow. North Carolina is the one with a slooooow rudder shift, 12.6 seconds on the top hull with the 20% module.

 

Guns are not bad at long range either (IIRC they have better dispersion than NC guns). And you don't want to stay at long range anyway, Tirpitz is a brawler and its speed allows it to close distance pretty well if need be.
