Ranked Battles: My Frustration Continues

Sooo... I have done ranked, and after around... 16 battles with a 56% WR, I have reached rank 14. I feel I could've gotten there quicker...

 

I doubt I'll be making rank 1 before the season ends, and I gave up on Rank 10 because the waiting times and when i do get a battle, it seems to be full of pubbies. I only reached rank 14 at the grace of my Mutsuki (cap rushing against the slower DDs was lovely), but after selling her for my Hatsuharu, which I can only use after Rank 10, I sort of decided that rank 14 would be my stopping point. I've seen people struggle, and the amount of idiots at the lower ranks is just extremely irritating. I've lost too many a good game because of people that can't even fully realize the value of sticking together as a team. Or non-english speakers trying to be dominant in an english speaking game. Had one match thrown by a Russian when he decided he was going to to A cap instead of B cap with the team. We ended up losing because he was one of our BBs.

 

So I'll congratulate you of Rank 1 who'll be getting the reward ship. If it's Kitakami or Tone I know I'll be kicking myself about it.

A lot of patience and a lot of lucky being in a good group of players..But if u get unlucky you will end up being on a group that got in there rank up by being dragged by good players.

The wait time is not long at Rank 10...

 

...however, the amazement of the terribads being there is enough for me to tell you to just quit now.

 

Tonight I had a 40% overall Myoko player, drive straight at the entire enemy team on North A Cap, turn his side and get smashed and die, in the first minute of the battle.   I then said in chat, "another one bites the dust.." and proceeded in the Tirpitz to the B cap where most of my team was headed.   I killed a DD on enemy team who was being equally dumb and trying to send torps at us, and 20 seconds later a Mogami on our team sent a full 8 torp spread into me, taking my remaining 65K health and sinking me.  On the other side of me was the North map large island, and said Mogami had absolutely no chance to actually hit anything but me or the island.  He basically team killed me on purpose.

 

Needless to say, we lost, and I dropped another star.  I honestly don't know what to think about Ranked anymore... I had been very motivated to get to rank 1. I wanted the pirate flag, I wanted to say "I did it" however, I just don't see it happening with the nonsense that is going on in there now.  It just seems to be getting worse.

well rank 14 is a silly place to stop imo, it's way better to get rank 13 which has a very nice reward, other good ranks to stop it's 11, 9 and 7

also ranked is a good place to train your boats, the amount of xp is insane even if you do nothing

Averaged around 80k damage in my matches but by the time I hit 14 I wanted to slam my head into my desk <.<

Hmmm frustrating ; HECK YEAH !!!!!   I made it to  rank 8  without any real problem and then proceeded to go down to 9 and back up to 8 three times ! Then I got to 2 stars at 8 and then a losing streak all the way back down to 10 and no stars in 5 days straight . then almost a week at 10 trying ; to no avail ; to get back up . Finally this weekend I have gotten somewhat lucky and made it back to 8 and then promptly lost my freebie star . So I will debate tomorrow night about trying to make 7 and quit ; stay at 8 ; when I really wanted that Jolly Roger ( and 100 type 3 armor lol ) . Oh by the way I started at rank 13 because of how I did  last season .

I also find Ranked Battles incredibly frustrating.  For a while, I didn't even think that I'd make it to Rank 10, and was hovering around 13, 14, and 15, because no matter how well I played, there were too many pathetic teams full of sub-par (or worse) players.  But eventually, after switching to playing DDs, I was able to get a good string of wins together and made it to the Rank 10.

 

And since I made it to Rank 10, the best I've done is to be able to get to Rank 9.2 (Rank 9 with 2 stars).  And since then it's been pretty much the same thing I ran into around ranks 13, 14, and 15.  Win one, lose one, win two, lose two. 

 

One of the things that I've found most frustrating is people bring Atlantas to Ranked Battles.  I know that some people really have fun playing it.  But in the Ranked Battles format, it's got to be just about the single weakest tier 7/8 ship going.   And heaven forbid that you end up on the Ocean map where there's absolutely no cover for an Atlanta to use to its advantage (which happened in one of my battles earlier tonight).  And the thing is that I no choice but to think that anyone who would bring an Atlanta to RB's absolutely has to be a noob for whom that Atlanta is their only tier 7 or 8 ship.  It's just frustrating to be stuck on a team with such an inexperienced player, a true noob, who would bring such a lame ship to RB's.  The damned thing is just so damned weak that there are many non-premium tier 6's or even 5's that I'd rather have on the team instead of an Atlanta.

 

Anyways....

 

At the moment, I don't know what could be done to ease frustrations and make ranked battles more fun for those of us who are at least decent players and care about trying to work as a team and winning.  Of course, maybe the entire format of RB's is the root cause of the problem.  I just don't know.

I'll just grind Konigsberg to get to Nurnberg and do ranked through her haha. Also Gnevny, ship looks like fun. Even though people don't like her, she looks like fun haha

Well, Rank 14 is pretty close to Rank 10, and that's pretty close to Rank 5. At Rank 5, you're already past half way, so you may as well grind to Rank 1.

Switch up ships, I've found it helps.

I have been alternating between Tirpitz and Kiev, I find I get into bad habits if I play one ship over and over.

The struggle is real, don't give up!

Likewise, sad part was that I knew there was a ranked reward ship for the pilot season halfway through (thanks to the RU forums).

Just Kitakami never crossed my mind and I got extremely upset over my progression in the second season because of that which made it extremely difficult to keep my (quoting Strix) Kung-fu Master patience afloat.

So I quit, and I'm still worried, because there are rumours that it's going to be Kitakami again but it's most likely either Mikhail or Tone. If it's Kitakami again I think I'll end up quitting entirely.

Getting to rank 9, then losing all those stars I earned the next day broke me. Didn't play WoWs for two days after that.

You're forgetting that the skill curve bracket is immensely higher and more competitive past rank 6, not a lot of people that get to rank 5 can actually get to rank 1.

Realism is better, it's crap to be positive and then get smashed in the face with a concrete wall at rank 5, Rank 10 and Rank 5 brackets don't compare, judging from the videos.

What ships do you sail? From what I hear it's mostly T8 battleboats and T8 concealment expert destroyers. Though that was a week ago, they might've already reached R1 by now.

Don't let me discourage you though, try it out. Might be better than what reddit/the forums have been spewing.

I've been using the Hatsuharu and the Tirpitz. To be honest, I'm actually looking forward to the higher skill level of players. Though today, I did encounter a sneaky Fubuki while playing with my Hatsuharu, and it remained out of sight for ages while still keeping me detected.
